  • Like Old Times

I retired as an administrative assistant for a law enforcement agency. Part of what I miss the most is case conversations. This podcast and The Prosecutors: Legal Briefs fill that space. The Dark Humor episode provided excellent insight of why gallows humor is so necessary for sanity in the face of daily evil. Great job!

The War We Owe Them: Sean’s Story
Q: What is your best advice for anyone who suspects something is happening?
Start with a comfortable conversation, ensure the child feels safe, and allow them to share their vulnerabilities; sometimes sharing personal experiences helps them open up.
The War We Owe Them: Sean’s Story
Q: Was there some point during all of this that there were, you know, signs to you that something was wrong, that this just wasn't right? And how did that look?
Sean describes how he was initially unaware of the wrongness of his situation, thinking that the attention from older individuals was love, but he later realized that it was fake love and not normal.
Squad Meeting: February 2026
Q: Can you talk about cases that escalated from small leads to major investigations?
Big cases often stem from minor complaints, and the hosts share personal experiences of discovering larger issues through initial citizen tips.
Squad Meeting: February 2026
Q: Can you explain how inmates have access to social media or the internet?
Inmates have a restricted form of access to maintain their mental health and preserve family ties, although it can often be abused.
Bunker in Bibb: Part III – Representative Matt Simpson
Q: How do you consider the risk that harsher penalties could unintentionally discourage victim reporting?
I believe offenders see victims as a reusable product and are not likely to kill them because they don't think they'll get caught, meaning this concern is unfounded.
