Matt probably isn’t ever coming back and I hope he’s happy offline. I miss this show every day. For an Adult Swim retrospective podcast it was shockingly formative in how I view and talk about art. Just so consistently funny and insightful, at least in the 9ish months where they had hit their stride before going remote. I never thought I would be nostalgic for summer 2019 but that’s how it goes.
I’ve only recently discovered this podcast, and since than I’ve dived down a rabbit hole of nostalgia and new shows. I hope they return soon
I started following this podcast around springtime 2019 & really liked their deep dive knowledge of animation and the witty back and forth banter they do each episode .And as a younger adult, I was really happy they spoke about more obscure shows as well in between conversations about adult swim shows. Specifically because many animation/entertainment podcasts struggle with actually going deeper into a low budgeted cancelled show. I put the podcast at a 4 because sometimes the duo will talk abou... more
I’m a fan of Steve, so it’s nice to get an animators perspective on these smaller cult shows. May not always agree, but it is interesting to see an opposing view on certain cartoons. Give it a listen.
No??? Then listen to Matthew Jay and Steve Yurko talk all about that AS show you loved/hated/have never heard of while you do instead!
Seriously, this podcast is the best - the hosts are knowledgeable, passionate, and funny, and their guests are always delightful.
This has become my favorite podcast to listen to at work! Now I can enjoy a bite-size nostalgia trip and learn more about AS/animation pretty much any time.
