  • Dr Daniel Amen interview

I just finished listening to the interview you had with Dr. Daniel Amen. His mission of improving brain health is commendable. However, when was discussing your SPECT scan and all the information he could glean from it I was flabbergasted.

As a neuroradiologist the idea of seeing all the abnormalities using nothing but a SPECT scans everyday sounds ludicrous. He must be using some “new” or special technology I’ve never heard of. In daily practice SPECT scans predominantly evaluate for Parkinso... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Reverse Your Biological Age with Valter Longo
Q: Should I be doing fasting, and what does a five-day water-only fast look like?
Fasting can trigger fat utilization and ketone production while protecting muscle through glycerol-derived glucose; however, water-only fasting is generally not feasible or safe for the majority of people, and the fasting-mimicking diet offers a more practical alternative that preserves muscle and reduces hunger.
The 8 Root Causes of Disease You’ve Never Been Taught with Dr. Darshan Shah
Q: Can you wait, can you tell us what those eight root causes of disease are?
He explains the eight root causes (inflammation, hormone deficiencies, gut dysbiosis, mitochondrial disruption, toxic exposure, circadian disruption, inadequate nutrients, and metabolic disease) and notes that addressing these through nutrition, sleep, movement, and environmental factors can dramatically improve health.
The 150-Year Life Expectancy is a Lie with S. Jay Olshansky
Q: Is there any evidence that supplements or stem cell therapies can extend life or disability-free years?
At present, there is no credible evidence that longevity supplements or stem cell therapies extend life or delay disability in a meaningful, generalizable way; he emphasizes relying on proven lifestyle factors and medical guidance instead.
The 150-Year Life Expectancy is a Lie with S. Jay Olshansky
Q: What is the realistic upper limit of human life expectancy for people who live healthily in long-lived populations?
The upper limit is likely around 90 for females and mid-80s for males, with an average near 87; this reflects a ceiling shaped by biological aging rather than disease alone, meaning even ideal behavior won't push most people past a certain point.
Nature's Anti-Aging Secrets with Dr. Steve Austad
Q: What might you do to increase longevity?
You should focus on personalized diets based on genetics and improve community health through organized physical activity.
