  • What we tell ourselves

Lizzie has a great way of explaining how we talk to ourselves about what we put into our bodies. She allows us to see when we are kinder to ourselves we drop the shoulds the guilt and energy around the idea food is bad for us. Her dove into how the brain works how it thinks and truly to keep us stuck in routines we are trying to get out of. How she explains the science makes it easy to digest.

  • Inspiration and comfort all in one!

Lizzie is a wonderful coach-she offers great insights while also normalizing that we make sense and that food is not moral and eating too much is not a failure. The concept of not dieting and listening to your body really speaks to me and her book Light is an absolute game changer!!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Why You Cannot Think Your Way Into Calm
Q: How should someone start with breathwork if they're busy or skeptical?
Start with a small commitment, like five minutes at a time, and bundle it with daily routines (e.g., after workouts or while waiting for coffee). Use a private podcast or guided sessions of varying lengths to fit into daily life, and gradually build consistency.
Why You Cannot Think Your Way Into Calm
Q: Why can't we regulate our nervous system by talking about it, and what does breathwork change that talk therapy cannot?
Breathwork creates a physical signal of safety to the brain by engaging the body (through diaphragmatic breathing), expanding the nervous system's capacity to handle stress, which talking alone cannot achieve because it lacks a direct body-based mechanism to calm the nervous system.
Why Your Boundaries Never Stick
Q: What role does grief play in boundary work?
Grief accompanies the loss of the life you pictured; acknowledging and sitting with that grief enables a clearer, truer path forward that honors both reality and personal growth.
Why Your Boundaries Never Stick
Q: How can someone start implementing a boundary without getting overwhelmed by guilt or fear?
Start with small pauses, 10-15 seconds, and build to longer practices; use moments of validation, grounding, and inner conversation to anchor boundaries and gradually increase adherence while honoring your own needs.
Why Your Boundaries Never Stick
Q: What happens after you set a boundary, and why do people backlash?
Backlash arises because some people benefited from the old dynamic; the conversation emphasizes staying with the boundary, validating emotions, and choosing actions aligned with one's values rather than others' expectations.
