I’ve been a fan of Laura Lexx for a while, and when she announced this podcast I knew I’d love it.
Just catching up on the Artemis Ward episode and it’s hilarious. Wayne Federman is their first guest, and he somehow manages to not only survive the wonderful chaos that is common when Laura and her co-host Olly Double get together, but he adds to it. There are so many side comments, diversions, asides - but the main points get made in a silly, entertaining, lovely way.
Highly recommend.
Laura and Ollie are the perfect pair of hosts to explore the fascinating subject of the history and theory of comedy. Properly nerdy and detailed but so, so entertaining too. Perfect!
This podcast is a nice factual look at different pockets of comedy. It’s really easy listening and fun - not gimmicky but not hard going either.
Love this insightful and interesting podcast. Humour is weird and wonderful human behaviour and it’s great to hear such knowledgeable presenters having interesting discussions on the minutiae of comedy.
Really enlightening and very funny too. Excellent pod.

A rigorous yet accessible examination of comedy, combining history, theory, and practical analysis. Episodes frequently explore classic theories of humor—superiority, relief, and incongruity—along with discussions of what makes jokes work, how audience perceptions shape humor, and the evolution of stand-up. Hosts bring a blend of academic insight and performing experience, often weaving in personal anecdotes, cultural critique, and historical case studies (from Morecambe and Wise to Marie Lloyd) to illuminate how laughter operates across time and society. The show also frequently tackles gender dynamics in comedy and the place of women in the canon, making it a distinctive mix of scholarly depth and entertaining banter that's likely to appe... more
