To summarise: it’s just not funny anymore. To begin, knocking-on for six minutes of adverts is unacceptable. Typically, there is then five minutes of painfully unfunny stand up with only Herring laughing at his own… well… they’re not jokes, so I don’t know why he’s laughing. I was hanging out with Brian Blessed and Adam Buxton the other day. We were all talking about how great men with beards are, when one of them said “Does anyone still listen to RHLSTP?” That’s what they called it. And I said yeah, it’s the best. The original ‘comedian talking to a guest’ pod and by far the best. For over a decade Richard Herring has been setting the bar for podcast guests and the inimitable Emergency Questions he asks them. National treasures Bob Mortimer and Sir Michael Palin, comedy royalty James Acaster, and Katherine Ryan, showbiz A-list Harry Shearer and Brett Goldstein, music sensations Suggs, Louise Wener, academics Alice Roberts and Mary Beard... They’ve all graced the RHLSTP guest’s chair. What more could yo... more
