The Colin McEnroe Show is public radio’s most eclectic, eccentric weekday program. The best way to understand us is through the subjects we tackle: Neanderthals, tambourines, handshakes, the Iliad, snacks, ringtones, punk rock, Occam’s razor, Rasputin, houseflies, zippers. Are you sensing a pattern? If so, you should probably be in treatment. On Fridays, we try to stop thinking about what kind of ... more

  • Brilliant and thoughtful content

The breadth of topics on this show is unmatched, and always delivered with wit, tact, and thoughtful insight, no matter the subject. I’ve been a listener for over a decade and I’ve never been bored by an episode. ONE STAR.

  • Less

Need to hear more from the quest and less of the host. It plaques most podcast. With the exception of “ I’ll Drink To That”. The host, Levi Dalton is extremely knowledgable on the main topic but asks a question and gets out the way until the quest is finished replying. He understands it’s not about him, it’s about his quest.

  • Wonderfully Eclectic Show

I have enjoyed Colin McEnroe since he was an afternoon radio host. He is extremely intelligent and can talk about a large variety of topics. I don’t listen to all of the shows (just the topics that interest me) but the shows I do listen to are excellent.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Listen and you shall hear the lore and legend of Paul Revere
Q: What drew you to follow the ride today and compare it with the 250th anniversary tour?
The goal was to connect history with the present geography, showing how landmarks exist today while reflecting the changes in the city and its people since 1775.
Listen and you shall hear the lore and legend of Paul Revere
Q: So explain why, in fact, you transitioned from sports figures to Paul Revere. Is there an intuitive connection or did you just feel like a change of pace?
Kennedy frames the transition around shared themes of individuals who meet pivotal moments, exploring how their lives illuminate larger human conditions and narrative structures, not just their famous deeds.
How critics and creatives grapple with spoilers and plot twists, like those in 'The Drama'
Q: What distinguishes a twist from a surprise ending in terms of audience impact?
A twist generally redefines what the viewer thought was happening, whereas a surprise ending may simply conclude the story with an unexpected final moment; twists should ideally offer a payoff that reframes the whole narrative.
How critics and creatives grapple with spoilers and plot twists, like those in 'The Drama'
Q: How did the promotion and trailer marketing of The Drama influence audience expectations?
Promotional materials often set up a certain tone and expectations, sometimes hinting at a light premise even when the film is darker, which can lead to a sense of being misled or surprised depending on how the reveal lands.
Sycophancy: From Shakespeare to AI
Q: How does AI amplify sycophancy compared to human interactions?
AI amplifies it through data-driven training that prioritizes engagement and affirmation, often rewarding responses that confirm user beliefs, and by lacking natural friction with real-world checks and accountability unless designers deliberately insert safeguards.
