The Colin McEnroe Show is public radio’s most eclectic, eccentric weekday program. The best way to understand us is through the subjects we tackle: Neanderthals, tambourines, handshakes, the Iliad, snacks, ringtones, punk rock, Occam’s razor, Rasputin, houseflies, zippers. Are you sensing a pattern? If so, you should probably be in treatment. On Fridays, we try to stop thinking about what kind of ... more

  • Less

Need to hear more from the quest and less of the host. It plaques most podcast. With the exception of “ I’ll Drink To That”. The host, Levi Dalton is extremely knowledgable on the main topic but asks a question and gets out the way until the quest is finished replying. He understands it’s not about him, it’s about his quest.

  • Wonderfully Eclectic Show

I have enjoyed Colin McEnroe since he was an afternoon radio host. He is extremely intelligent and can talk about a large variety of topics. I don’t listen to all of the shows (just the topics that interest me) but the shows I do listen to are excellent.

Singer-songwriter Nicole Zuraitis and the modern songbook movement
Q: What does the Modern Songbook Movement aim to achieve beyond reviving old standards?
It aims to create a community and a pipeline for living composers and performers to contribute new songs that can be interpreted in a jazz-inflected idiom, helping the repertoire stay relevant for future generations.
Everybody loves an underdog. Should we?
Q: What earns you the right to think of yourself as an underdog?
The discussion suggests that perceptions of disadvantage, resource gaps, and narrative context carve out an underdog identity for individuals or teams, which resonates with audiences and motivates rooting for them whether in sports or culture.
If you're bored, are you boring? A look at boredom in all its forms
Q: How do you distinguish between state boredom and trait boredom, and why does it matter?
State boredom refers to the momentary feeling when the present task lacks meaning, while trait boredom describes a more chronic pattern where a person repeatedly finds life lacking meaning, affecting overall engagement and well-being.
Benedict Arnold: Unscrupulous traitor or unsung hero?
Q: Nathaniel, how do you think geography and local loyalties shaped Arnold's choices in the early years of the Revolution?
Loyalist and patriot sentiments varied by colony, and Arnold's fate was deeply influenced by regional politics and personal alliances, not just his personal drive.
