After interfering in the US 2016 election, Russia has returned. This time, even more is riding on the interference campaign.
‘Dark Shining Moment’ tells the story of the first people to detect Russia’s interference – before that pivotal election. It’s a narrative about how information has been used to create a new reality for the public, for democracies and for the world –... more
A while ago, I wrote about what appears to be a rhetorical alignment between Western libertarians and the Kremlin’s messaging. Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the divide between East and West regarding libertarianism has become... more
Given the interest in Elon Musk’s flirtation with the Kremlin view on Ukraine, the topic of the Western tech world’s openness to Kremlin narratives has emerged again. I’ve gotten a small spike of interest in a presentation I made at SXSW in 2018. So ... more

Chris Zappone has been following Cold War 2.0 before the days of the Trump administration. I’ve followed his work for Melbourne’s The Age and his presentations at SXSW for a long time. He was the first major journalist to point out Russia’s misinformation ops in the United States. His analysis of foreign policy has been spot on, including his March podcast on Joe Biden and Russia’s surging and traditional imperial ambitions. If you want to hear it 12 months before it happens, I would subscribe.
Insightful and honest coverage/opinions. Seems ahead of the curve when it comes to news. Really interesting.
