  • Shameful

Amol is a fanboy for any tech bros he interviews. He fails to ask Hoffman about his emails to Epstein other than a cursory mention. People should read into Hoffman’s exchange with Epstein and then consider whether even having him on as a guest was appropriate, let alone the reverence Amol towards him. To me this is just vile.

  • What a mistake

Whose idea was it to change this from the iconic Hard Talk with Legendary Stephen Sackur to The Interview. It needed some changes to stay relevant but I would have made it longer. The BBC needs to get with the programme. Realise the modern trend for long for listening especially in depth interviews is what was lacking. I would have given anything to hear Stephen for an hour to two hours really asking the hard questions of interviewees and giving them a real chance to answer in depth. What a loss... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Catherine Russell, Unicef: War is the worst thing for children
Q: How have the needs of children changed over the past decade, given ongoing conflicts and humanitarian challenges?
She notes progress in reducing under-five mortality and later child protection gains, but emphasizes that current conflicts have created unprecedented, multi-faceted needs—education disruption, malnutrition, and risk to safety that require a broadened, sustained response.
Catherine Russell, Unicef: War is the worst thing for children
Q: What was your most pressing concern when you first took leadership of UNICEF in 2022?
Her focus was on keeping adolescent girls in school and addressing the early consequences of war, but almost immediately Ukraine's invasion reshaped priorities and stretched resources across many crises.
Gebran Bassil, Lebanese politician: Hezbollah should disarm
Q: What role should the Lebanese army play in any conflict with Israel?
Bassil emphasizes that the army should be the main pillar of national defense, with the government retaining decision-making power and all Lebanese citizens integrated into a national security strategy.
Gebran Bassil, Lebanese politician: Hezbollah should disarm
Q: What is the strong card Lebanon can use in negotiations with Israel?
The strong card is maintaining the ability to resist, while pushing for negotiations that preserve Lebanon's sovereignty and security, and ensuring that any deal is tied to a broader strategy of state-led defense and border stability.
Gebran Bassil, Lebanese politician: Hezbollah should disarm
Q: Is it possible to disarm Hezbollah in Lebanon?
Bassil argues that disarming Hezbollah by force is unlikely; instead, he advocates for an exclusivity of arms by the state, political pressure, and a parallel process including full Israeli withdrawal to reduce the risk of civil conflict.
