  • Very interesting and helpful podcast

I listened to a few of Isaac’s podcast and enjoyed the value he delivers to the industry by providing this platform to share knowledge.

I recommend listening to his podcasts, especially the one with Robert Otani who talked about how there is a lot of information about AI and a lot of negative coverage about it, and that it's still important to focus on how to use AI in the smartest and best way for companies.

The State of Civil Engineering Hiring in 2026 With Brandon McGill
Q: What sets Brandon and The Civil Recruiter apart from other recruiters in this space?
A strong emphasis on relationships and acting as an advocate for engineers; the recruiter focuses on being a resource first, using their network to connect engineers with opportunities, and helping clients achieve both professional growth and personal life balance.
The State of Civil Engineering Hiring in 2026 With Brandon McGill
Q: Is it worth staying with your current employer or exploring new opportunities for growth and pay?
Talk to your current manager first to understand growth avenues and value, then compare with external opportunities; avoid jumping purely for salary and consider long-term fit and career trajectory; counteroffers can be risky, and staying put may be best if your value is recognized, but external options should be explored for better alignment.
The State of Civil Engineering Hiring in 2026 With Brandon McGill
Q: What updates do you have in the world of civil engineering in terms of recruitment and the job market?
Mid- to senior-level roles remain the strongest demand across geotechnical, structural, and site civil, with a wide range of relocation opportunities; salary for PEs is generally six figures, with regional outliers in places like SF and Boston, and advice centers on pursuing the right path rather than just chasing pay.
The Legal Risks Licensed PEs Don’t Prep for (But Should) With Matthew Fornaro
Q: What should engineers consider when forming their own firm or choosing an entity type?
Engineers should consult both an attorney and an accountant to choose the right entity for tax and liability purposes, considering personal circumstances and long-term needs.
The Legal Risks Licensed PEs Don’t Prep for (But Should) With Matthew Fornaro
Q: How does construction law differ from general business law in terms of risk and complexity?
Construction law closely tracks contracts, notices, liens, and statutory requirements that vary by state; it is highly nuanced and regulated, often requiring specific procedural steps before litigation can proceed.
