  • Very interesting and helpful podcast

I listened to a few of Isaac’s podcast and enjoyed the value he delivers to the industry by providing this platform to share knowledge.

I recommend listening to his podcasts, especially the one with Robert Otani who talked about how there is a lot of information about AI and a lot of negative coverage about it, and that it's still important to focus on how to use AI in the smartest and best way for companies.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

How Top AEC Firms Are Using AI Today With Bhragan Paramanantham
Q: What would you say to someone who is thinking AI might threaten their job in civil engineering?
AI is a tool to augment rather than replace; it speeds up repetitive tasks and frees engineers to focus on judgment-rich work, while you audit and guide its outputs.
A Deep Dive into the World of Land Development With Jason Cheramie, PE
Q: What advancements do you see in this industry? Is there new material or technology that excites you?
He notes permeable pavements and advanced stormwater treatment options, but emphasizes that regulatory review and implementation bottlenecks slow adoption; universities like NC State test new concepts, but broader use requires proven results and agency approval.
A Deep Dive into the World of Land Development With Jason Cheramie, PE
Q: What's a day in the life of someone who works in stormwater and land development?
A typical day involves project investigations, GIS research, coordinating with counties and agencies, designing stormwater and utility layouts in AutoCAD, and managing communications with clients, contractors, and specialists to ensure plans are constructible and compliant.
A Deep Dive into the World of Land Development With Jason Cheramie, PE
Q: Tell us what your background is, what you do for a living, how you ended up in this world.
Jason describes a career across multiple states, starting with an environmental engineering background, discovering a preference for land development during senior design, and eventually focusing on stormwater and land development in NC, with a path through FE/PE licensure and hands-on project work.
How the PE Can Take You Way Beyond Engineering With Lorri Zella
Q: What drew you to engineering, and would you encourage other women to pursue it?
Engineering appealed to me as a field with the potential to build and solve real-world problems, and despite the challenges, it provides a strong foundation that opens many doors beyond traditional paths; persistence, learning, and networking are key.
