Love hearing about one of my fave comedies so decided to give this a go. Started with series 1 to listen in order and the hosts make no bones about their disdain for the series, which is a shame as whilst not as good as the others there are definitely funny parts to the original series. The guys are also a bit uppity as it pertains to some of the humour, although I understand the need to walk the PC line.
Thank you two very much! I am really appreciating your take on each episode.
Certainly in my top 5 sitcoms of all time.
The two Scottish guys clearly and calmly talk you through each episode with clips from the show, ideal.
Typical jocks. Their only knowledge of WW1 is Blackadder. Ignorance.
What a pleasure to stumble upon this masterful podcast, many years after I first watched the brilliant Blackadder. I received each series on VHS overall several birthdays, starting with Series 4 and working back to Series 1. This podcast brings back many happy memories of the quality of each series, even the raw Series 1 which I initially stopped after two episodes in disgust. In time, I came to appreciate it as a different piece of work. I am only half way through this podcast (decided to start... more
Have binged on this after coming to it late. Must have something in common with Jerry & Ian as I didn’t rate series one either.
A recent and very much enjoyed discovery. Good to listen to fans who enjoy a fave for me
I hadn't watched the show in years, and it was great to see them again, and hear the always amusing analysis by Gerry and Iain. For the GENIUS idea of beginning with series two, and then going back to series one later, they deserve this five star rating, and more.
Captures the spirit and comedic genius of the Blackadder series - great stuff.
The show and host are awesome.
Very entertaining podcast of a timeless show. Love it.
When reviewing a programme, one needs to consider it. This show is largely repeating the lines, considerably less funny that they were said many years ago. One episode in and I am gone.
Great to watch Blackadder again & listen along, reminded me how good this show really was.
Fun banter, clips and retrospective on a classic British sit-com
Blackadder has long been one of my favourite TV shows from the 1980s, and it's a load of fun to hear the hosts of one of the best 'retrospective' podcasts - The Columbo Podcast - turn their attentions towards this British cult classic. They're cleverly beginning with Blackadder II, and having listened to the first episode, I can't wait to go on this journey through alternative history along with them. Highly recommended!
