You feel like you’re listening to your friends—sensitive to character and plot, and never puffed up or pretentious. Love it!!!
This is a great discussion, good takes and insights. I especially loved the discussion w the guest with a phd who teaches at graduate program on religious studies.
I just wanted to praise this podcast. I enjoy their recaps so much. This podcast is the perfect companion to the shows. They cover, from game of thrones to Pluribus. I can’t wait for their coverage on House of the Dragon.
I love fantasy show podcasts that have one host who likes the material and is well-read on it, and another host who makes it abundantly clear he would rather be anywhere else in the world than doing this podcast right now.
Feel like A.Ron is a 5 for AKOTSK but Jim is a 1. He doesn’t seem too particularly interested in the material. Like them on everything else but a lot of “sures” from Jim on this one and just not engaging.

Hosts-turned-analysts dig into character arcs, lore, adaptations, and storytelling choices, often balancing scholarly context with approachable banter. Guests frequently bring academic, literary, or fan-theory perspectives to enrich debates about knights, houses, prophecies, and the broader Westeros universe. A notable strength is the blend of deep lore with accessible critique, plus a longstanding engagement with listener feedback that informs future episodes. The show stands out for its dedicated focus on hedge-knight ethics, adaptation differences, and book-versus-show discussions,... more
