  • Zero standards

As with most podcasts in general, Julian runs out of legitimate figures and platforms out-of-touch wealthy hacks with zero moral standards who can afford to be apolitical without pushing back on their views in the slightest. How about the defunding of mRNA cancer vaccine research, Julian? How about roadkill defiler RFK Jr.’s HIV denialism? The defunding of the NIH? The cuts to research grants, especially for political targets like Columbia University? You have an opportunity to push back on thes... more

BT Clip: MIT Professor: "We Have 18 Months Before AI Lockdown" (Ramesh Raskar)
Q: What changes would need to happen for individuals to truly own their own AI?
A shift from centralized services to personal, edge-based AI agents is needed, with individuals controlling their data, models, and digital representations, enabling direct participation in economic and social life.
BT Clip: MIT Professor: "We Have 18 Months Before AI Lockdown" (Ramesh Raskar)
Q: How soon do you think the industry could reach a point where a handful of players effectively lock out others?
The speaker argues there is a real risk of a near-term lock-in within roughly a year and a half, where a few major players consolidate control over AI ecosystems, unless steps are taken to decentralize ownership and access.
Ben Goertzel: Whoever Gets AGI First Can CONQUER THE PLANET
Q: Do you think the government wants to control AI?
Yes, both the US and Chinese governments want to control AI, and many other governments would like to as well, though practical control varies by power and structure.
Peter Diamandis: "AGI Is Already Here - They Just Haven't Released It Yet"
Q: What would you tell someone who fears AI and its impact on jobs?
Acknowledge the fear but focus on proactive adaptation—invest in skills, support policies that guide transitions, and follow optimistic, solvable thinking that pushes toward constructive solutions rather than paralysis.
BT Clip: AI Will END Democracy Before We Even Notice… (Emad Mostaque)
Q: OK. What sort of timelines?
The guest suggests a timeline of roughly 10 to 20 years for first advanced manifestations, emphasizing the rapidity of AI persuasion and debatable benchmarks like box constraints and debater-level performance of current models.
