Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Reimagining Leadership in the Age of AI with Jerry Almendarez
Q: Can you tell people more about your work and how to connect with you?
He explains that he helps county offices and districts integrate AI into workflows, with a focus on governance tasks across platforms, and invites questions via LinkedIn with a show-notes link.
Reimagining Leadership in the Age of AI with Jerry Almendarez
Q: No, that's awesome. Jerry, is there a story that will help listeners understand why you're doing what you do?
Yes. The insight began during COVID when the industry faced unprecedented uncertainty, revealing that many meetings had the same agendas and questions, which spurred him to reimagine leadership and how to teach and learn in a disrupted system.
Nurturing Collective Efficacy with Kurtis Hewson
Q: What is the first step a school should take to begin implementing collaborative response effectively?
Begin by establishing predictable norms and a routine for celebrations at the start of meetings, then move into identifying a key issue, sharing evidence and strategies, and finally assigning tasks with clear accountability. This builds trust, creates shared language, and gradually expands from PLC-like planning to a full, multi-layered collaborative system.
Nurturing Collective Efficacy with Kurtis Hewson
Q: Kurtis, can you describe what a collaborative team meeting looks like in practice and how it differs from traditional PLCs?
In a collaborative team meeting, a small group of teachers (three to five) plus an administrator and possibly specialists come together with a shared purpose, review norms, celebrate successes, identify a key issue for a student (without naming the student), brainstorm ideas, and then decide on concrete next steps. The emphasis is on collective intelligence, not individual instruction, with a structured, time-bound process that makes room for coaching, cross-pollination, and universal strategies that can be applied broadly.
Schools to Watch with Dr. Joe Coleman
Q: What one or two practices should an assistant principal embrace to improve their school?
Listen to staff to show they are valued, and build leadership capacity by developing others—creating distributed leadership where PLCs and collaborative meetings include multiple leaders who contribute and share leadership.
