My Child Won’t Go to School… What’s Really Going On? (EBSNA Explained)
Q: What is the most common age for signs of emotional-based school non-attendance?
It often emerges in key stage three, around year seven to year nine, with a rise toward year eight as students transition and face increased academic and social pressures.
My Child Won’t Go to School… What’s Really Going On? (EBSNA Explained)
Q: This seems to be something that really is a very emerging and pressing issue for so many schools and children. Can you tell us what EBSA is?
EBSA is when children feel unable to attend school due to high stress, anxiety, or emotional demand from the schooling environment; it's about the emotional context rather than willful defiance.
From International Student to Clinical Psychologist in the UK | Dr Samuel Chu
Q: Is UK NHS experience mandatory to get onto clinical psychology training, or can non-UK clinical experience count?
Non-UK clinical experience can count; many programs value a mix of clinical and research experience, though some UK-specific familiarity with the NHS is advantageous but not strictly compulsory.
From International Student to Clinical Psychologist in the UK | Dr Samuel Chu
Q: What are the initial visa and study path considerations for an international student moving to the UK?
A conditional or unconditional university offer sets the stage, followed by applying for a Tier 4 visa; after the degree, a two-year graduate visa helps with job hunting, and later a work visa is needed for long-term stay.
What Is It Really Like Working as a UK Clinical Psychologist in the UAE?
Q: Are you working with a similar level of severity as a UK CAMHS service, or is there a bit more of a primary care vibe?
Dr. Jack responds that the cases he has encountered vary in severity, and while some cases align with UK standards, others may not meet those thresholds readily.
