  • Grating

The guests are often amazing but the hosts can’t seem to think of anything insightful to ask or analyze. It’s a bit cringey to listen to them yap a lot but say very little.

  • Meh

I found this podcast or TikTok and watching them in 20 second spirits was amazing. I really thought I was signing up for some great information from people that love movies. It’s very hard to listen to when there’s this constant issue of not getting a cultural reference or mispronouncing somebody’s name or making references to other things that don’t necessarily make sense. I would like them to do better, but I’ve given it enough shots. I’m taking it off my queue.

  • UPDATED: Stick with it!

UPDATE: I listened to a few more episodes, and I think my initial review was too harsh. The hosts maybe just needed some practice and experience. The new eps are much better. They ask more thoughtful questions, and they really do get such good guests! Even when they don’t have a guest, the episodes are fun because of how specific they get about costume details. Good job, y’all!

Entertaining, informative, and well produced. It is clear these folks are passionate about costumes and I’m passionate about this podcast! Nobody is doing it like them. I look forward to every episode and greatly appreciate the lengths which they go to research and discuss each topic. The interviews are all superb. Hands down, this is my favorite show. Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Pulp Fiction with Costume Designer, Betsy Heimann
Q: How did you decide on the leather jacket and overall silhouette for the hitmen?
We anchored their style in a practical, thrift-store inspired look, using a classic 1940s leather jacket as a foundation, then refined the fits and the small details to reflect each character's personality—Jules as preacher-like and Vincent as a cooler, messier presence.
Pulp Fiction with Costume Designer, Betsy Heimann
Q: What was your initial reaction to moving from Reservoir Dogs to Pulp Fiction visually?
We went through the script and visuals at Denny's in Hollywood, then Barney's Beanfactory to map how Jules and Vincent would become distinct yet connected to the Reservoir Dogs look, with Quentin pushing for John Travolta and the iconic wardrobe that could carry long dialogue sequences.
Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood
Q: What makes the film a love letter to Hollywood?
The hosts describe the movie as a celebration of the people who work behind the scenes—costumers, grips, PAs—whose efforts bring the dream to life, and note the film's nostalgic yet critical take on the era.
The Choral with Jenny Beavan - The Costume House with Spencer Williams
Q: What still excites you when you read a new script?
The people and the story, particularly when working with respected directors like Alex Garland.
The Choral with Jenny Beavan - The Costume House with Spencer Williams
Q: Can you explain your research process for The Choral?
I wanted everyone to be completely real and believable, focusing on truth in costuming rather than drawing attention to the clothes.
