  • Emphasis on appearance

I wish the women pictured in these podcasts were not all wearing so much makeup, hair like they just left the salon and clothing that looks like they are competing for a fashion award. This does not inspire me to listen to your opinions.

  • Please allow your guest to speak

I came across the episode with Dr. Staci Sims because I am a huge Dr. Sims fan and I’m always eager to hear what she has to say in the realm of peri- and post menopausal nutrition and training. Listening to the show was a huge letdown because the interviewer continually interrupted Dr. Sims and would not allow her tocomplete her thoughts and expanded adequately as she could have had she not been interrupted. I appreciate the interviewer’s enthusiasm, and she comes across as a very sweet and wel... more

Stop Damaging Your Liver with Professor Jacob George
Q: What daily actions can most people take to protect their liver?
Adopt a holistic approach: stay physically active (aerobic and resistance training), eat a plant-forward, minimally processed diet with variety and legumes, limit alcohol, and focus on fresh, recognizable foods to support metabolic and liver health.
Stop Damaging Your Liver with Professor Jacob George
Q: What role do medications like paracetamol play in liver health, especially with alcohol use?
Paracetamol can be safe in normal amounts, but when combined with alcohol or in higher doses, it can cause severe liver injury due to overlapping metabolic pathways; caution is advised for people who drink regularly.
Stop Damaging Your Liver with Professor Jacob George
Q: How does alcohol interact with fatty liver and other liver diseases?
Alcohol accelerates liver damage across all liver diseases, and when combined with existing fatty liver or viral hepatitis, the damage escalates much more quickly than either insult alone.
Stop Damaging Your Liver with Professor Jacob George
Q: How do you test for fatty liver, and how reliable are routine liver tests?
Fatty liver can be detected with imaging like ultrasound or Fibroscan; standard blood tests (AST/ALT) may be normal even when fat accumulation is present, so imaging is often necessary for accurate assessment.
Stop Damaging Your Liver with Professor Jacob George
Q: Let's start simply. What is the liver?
The liver is one of the largest organs, a central metabolic factory that processes nutrients, detoxifies medications, produces bile for digestion, stores energy, and supports immune function. Its health hinges on avoiding injury and maintaining a balanced lifestyle.
