I met La Maestra Loca at the 2025 Comprehensible Iowa Conference. I instantly fell in love with her personality and energy! I have been making my way through her podcast listening to them on my roadtrips. I also follow her blog and social media. I can’t get enough of her ideas. I’m looking forward to incorporating her ideas for brain breaks and class jobs this year. I’ve been teaching for almost 20 years and never thought to use these. I could go on and on! Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 93: Seeing Every Student: Intentional Inclusion in the World Language Classroom with Emily Ibrahim
Q: What encouragement do you have for people who are new to teaching or new to teaching students with disabilities?
Believe that students with disabilities can be successful in a foreign language classroom. Raise your expectations, use visuals and gestures, go slowly, and implement one acquisition-focused practice at a time, knowing that what benefits these students will benefit all learners.
Episode 89: Your mindset, YOUR choice... it is up to you!
Q: Could you talk to us briefly about the why, why our brains most times will choose to stay in the anger or the hate or the frustration or the fear or the sadness?
Cäcilia explains that it's due to the brain's Reticular Activating System, which subconsciously filters focus towards negative feelings as a protective mechanism, leading to the choice to dwell on those emotions.
S2: E10- Brief Moving Meditations with Kristen Wolf
Q: What advice would you give teachers who are interested in incorporating these Brief Moving Meditations in just getting started?
Just know that at first you might mess up, but you're not doing it wrong. Even if students opt out, the benefits of community and energy are still present.
