Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Indian Channel Swimmers
Q: What is your take on open water swimming developing in India?
There are talented swimmers and the will to succeed, but funding, access to information, and the high costs of traveling abroad pose major barriers that hardworking athletes must overcome with support from mentors and communities.
Indian Channel Swimmers
Q: What memories do you have of your English Channel swim?
The crossing was marked by bad weather and a dramatic moment when the boat nearly hit a rock; despite that, I persisted and later realized I had completed a double crossing, a dream I had kept alive for years.
Indian Channel Swimmers
Q: And tell me please about your first English Channel crossing.
The first day was brutal; the water was colder than I imagined, and I nearly gave up after 15 minutes, but I pushed through, kept moving, and slowly built from short stretches to long hours, guided by a supportive crew.
Indian Channel Swimmers
Q: So how did you get started in swimming?
I started when I was two years old; my father, who didn't know how to swim, promised to teach me and my siblings, and from there my love for water grew into a lifelong pursuit that led me to open water competitions.
Swim Through: S6E4
Q: What would you say swimming has helped you to swim through?
Swimming has helped me ground myself, regulate my breath, and feel connected to nature and family while navigating difficult personal periods and losses.
