  • Eric Williamson Registered Dietitian

Thank you for featuring a Registered Dietitian and clarifying what that credential is—most of the public has no clue about this. It is vital for people to partner with truly qualified professionals. Eric Williamson made things much clearer because he is trained well.

  • Love your show, but…

I’ve been listening to your show for years, David, and love your enthusiasm, curiosity, wisdom, and amazing guests. Your voice exudes an infectious sense of wonder and excitement.

However, there seems to be a trend in wellness podcasts—such as with Sanjay Gupta’s “Chasing Life”—in which a young female cohost has been added. I don’t wish to hurt anyone’s feelings, but your new cohost’s voice is distracting with the vocal fry and uptick. Your previous monologue style of speaking directly to the l... more

  • Hello David

I just spent five days with David at a MEA fitness workshop in Santa Fe. The information I got from him was mind blowing. This guy knows so much about fitness that it shifted my level of understanding about fitness to new heights. I was a personal fitness trainer in the 90s and I realize that everything I know from that period of time is obsolete. Thank you, David and I look forward to hearing more on your podcasts.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Dr. William Li: Food, Fear, and Control
Q: How should we think about personalized nutrition versus one-size-fits-all dietary guidelines?
Nutrition should be tailored to the individual's age, activity, health status, and lifestyle; a flexible, reasonable approach that integrates science without rigidity is more effective than strict rules.
Dr. William Li: Food, Fear, and Control
Q: Protein intake, kinds of protein, and how much we need after 50.
Protein needs shift with age; prioritize higher-quality protein, whether plant- or animal-based, and personalize intake based on activity, body size, and health. Plant proteins offer fiber and polyphenols, while red meat provides minerals but comes with higher saturated fat and potential drawbacks; balance and personalization are key.
Dr. William Li: Food, Fear, and Control
Q: Talk to me about glucose load and cancer growth.
Sugar is essential for life and brain function; cancer does not simply get fed by sugar in a direct, universal way, and healthy physiology aims for steady glucose levels with personalized considerations rather than blanket restrictions.
Dr. William Li: Food, Fear, and Control
Q: If you were to advise people on foods to eat to increase their vascular health, what would you say?
Focus on maintaining a slippery, healthy vascular lining by including brassica vegetables for bioactives, green tea for catechins like EGCG, and tree nuts for fiber and microbiome support; also emphasize a balanced approach rather than chasing single “magic bullets.”
Stephanie Fairyington: When the World Stops Looking
Q: Why did you write Ugly, A Letter to My Daughter?
Fairyington explains she wanted a brutal, non-sweet, non-memoir letter that treats femininity and aging as social systems to be dissected, not celebrated blindly, and to empower readers to resist and reinterpret those pressures.
