  • Used to be better

He’s angrier now that he’s more successful which is a bummer. He’s smart and has done a lot, I’m sure he’s under a lot of pressure. It would be better for him if he could rise above that and be ok with criticism.

  • Very abstract

Very abstract. Real world examples and case studies would be helpful. A lot of jargon also. Plain English would be good.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Identifying Your Marketing Levers When the CRM Data Isn’t Perfect (data trust, finding leverage fast, AI analytics hallucinations)
Q: What is the size of your company and how is marketing being structured to support pipeline?
The guest describes a 60 million revenue organization where marketing is new; the recommended approach is to look upstream to see what happens before opportunity creation, understand how sales triggers are working, and identify where marketing can accelerate the pipeline by supporting sales rather than simply generating more leads.
Why Most Marketing Leaders Can't Prove Their Revenue Impact [Workshop Recording]
Q: How does one really start in their CRM to build this kind of GTM infrastructure?
Create a dedicated object for the prospecting cycle, track signals and triggers, and use leads as containers to stamp data. The goal is to compartmentalize data so you can clearly see the full prospecting journey and identify gaps.
Why It's Time to Bury the MQL – With Jon Miller, the Marketo Co-Founder Who Helped Popularize It
Q: If not MQLs, what KPIs matter most now and how should marketing be evaluated in relation to CFOs?
He emphasizes total pipeline, account journey stages, pipeline velocity, win rate by segment, average deal size, and post-sale metrics like net revenue retention and customer expansion, arguing for a holistic dashboard that tracks the entire customer lifecycle rather than marketing-sourced deals alone.
Why It's Time to Bury the MQL – With Jon Miller, the Marketo Co-Founder Who Helped Popularize It
Q: Tell me, how did you come to these conclusions in 2026 about MQLs and the traditional playbook?
Miller explains that the shift came from observing that the old playbook worked in a different market context (brand strength, demand generation focus, VC dynamics) but failed when Demandbase and AI-enabled capabilities revealed the complexity and nonlinearity of buying, leading to a broader redefinition of what should be measured.
Q&A: Your Biggest GTM Questions Answered (Attribution, Executive Buy-In, Change Management & More)
Q: How do you avoid falling back into first touch, last touch debates in your QPRs and in your discussions around KPIs?
It's essential to focus on the comprehensive influences on pipeline, not just the last touch, to avoid oversimplifying complex sales processes.
