This is a collection of my thoughts on philosophy and techniques regarding mountain guiding and outdoor leadership. I record each episode unscripted and usually in a single take. Starlight and Storm is a book by Gaston Rebuffat published in 1956. He was a visionary french guide that has eloquently written about guiding and mountain craft.

I feel fortunate to record a couple episodes with IFMGA guide Peter Doucette. He happens to be one of my closest friends as well. I have always appreciated the depth of his thought process and ability of articulating it to the rest of us.

A most extensive and incredible compendium of many if not all facets of being a climbing guide! And not limited to the technical side of rigging and rope handling, but the full expanse of what professional guiding involves. I had the privilege of training under Dick - several sessions since I arrived wired with years of misinformation - so these podcasts are refreshers and review and extremely rich resources beyond what we covered in PCIA Top Rope Climbing Instructor training. Thank you, Dick... more
