I've always been intrigued by the south and southern culture. Being from the PNW I've never had a chance to visit but I hope to someday. I love this podcast cause of the insight and knowledge the hosts bring to the conversation/analysis. I find it enjoyable and enlightening to learn about the southern way of life, as well as the realities of a place that I confess I have romanticized. Anyway I hope Mandi Kaye & Kelly Lee continue to make more episodes and if I may, I have two suggestions for mov... more
I’m not from the South but I love movies and analysis of movies. Listening to these two Southern ladies dig deep into movies influenced by Southern culture is really fascinating to me. And they both have absolutely lovely voices for podcasting - a delight to listen to!
As a listener in the UK it's fab to listen to the southern accents and explore a little of deep south culture. I'm a huge fan of travel and this gives a glimpse into a world full of interesting stories. I especially love addition of the cocktails!
What a charming show! I just listened to the "Indict Me, Reverend Roy" Episode. As a "yank" from Portland Maine, I could pretty much listen to hosts Mandi and Kelly talk about anything in their delightful southern accents. I love that they are rivising some of my favorite movies and thinking about them through the "Southern" lens. This show is pure Southern comfort food:)
From the analytical framework to the way the two hosts bring each other's accents out, this podcast delights me a little bit more with every episode.
As a blue woman in a red state who grapples with her Southern identity on the daily, I feel like this podcast was made specifically to delight me. The hosts Mandi and Kelly are super insightful and not able having a little fun! I adore most of the movies that they discuss, and I love how they don’t shy away from the more problematic elements in each. Do yourself and your podcast feed a favor and add this one to your collection!
These two Southern ladies are perfectly balanced when it comes to pop cultural analysis. A little salty and a little sweet. Smart, fun, and insightful. A great show!
