  • Jenn Hyman Episode

New listener here, but have seen so many of Sammi’s clips on tik tok! I thought she did a stellar job with the Jenn Hyman interview. Jenn quickly hijacked the conversation and spoke over her continuously while Sammi handled it gracefully and politely challenged her when it was required (IPO). Jenn is obviously sharp but trying to convince us so desperately that rent the runway is not a business in crisis was exhausting. Anyone who has to say multiple times how wonderful they are to their employe... more

  • Love podcast sammi

In this last episode there was a ton of discussion of going from short form socials to long form podcasts and I just want to say I LOVE the podcast. It gets so much more in depth, I can listen in the car, and I think you conduct great interviews. I know it takes a lot more work for less return, but I really appreciate it!

  • Thorough and Articulate

When I listen to Sammi break down a story I feel like I am listening to a thoughtful, thorough, and entertaining academic. She is so sharp and careful not to overstate things. She has a knack for picking the best things to discuss and keeps her content both interesting and informative. I am an attorney and she makes me wish I studied business! Luckily for me, I can learn a lot from her content. Keep up the incredible work, Sammi!

  • Relevant, succinct, and timely!

Sami, thanks for your show. I love that there is a mix of long and short shows and your topics are always on point and interesting! You get to the point quickly, always have a clear throughline, and I’m always left thinking about new angles.

Also… from one ex-Amazonian to another - you took all the best from the company, “raised the bar”, and are bringing your audience the brilliance of your instinct and know-how! :)

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Steven Schwartz (Whop) on Building a Unicorn, Creating Millionaires, and the Future of Work
Q: Can you share the one or two sentences that explain Whop to someone who's not familiar with what you're doing?
Whop started as a place to buy and sell sneaker bots and evolved into a platform where people can start a business, sell software, chats, and long-form video, with a mission to deliver everyone a sustainable income by providing scalable ways to monetize the internet.
Peter Semple (Depop) on Scaling Beyond Gen Z, the CMO to CEO Pipeline, and the eBay Deal
Q: What is one thing that the fashion industry thinks is sustainable, but actually isn't, according to you?
Many brands mistake sustainability by focusing on a sustainable collection at the garment level rather than transforming the entire business model; true sustainability requires system-wide changes, not just limited capsule pieces, because the majority of revenue still comes from selling new items and production pressures remain high.
Harley Finkelstein (Shopify) on AI Shopping Agents, Merit-Based Commerce, and the “Give a Sh*t Factor” That Makes Founder-Led Companies Win
Q: How does agentic commerce change the consumer shopping experience?
Agentic commerce uses chat-based agents to understand consumer preferences, curate merchandised options with high merit, and allow purchases directly within chat interfaces, offering a seamless, personalized shopping flow without leaving the chat.
Harley Finkelstein (Shopify) on AI Shopping Agents, Merit-Based Commerce, and the “Give a Sh*t Factor” That Makes Founder-Led Companies Win
Q: What was the moment that defined Shopify's trajectory for Harley?
Ringing the bell at the New York Stock Exchange when Shopify went public was a pivotal moment that symbolized a generation-long journey, signaling that Shopify could become a generational company and scale beyond expectations.
Todd Kahn (Coach) on Winning Gen Z, Shrinking to Grow, and the Brand Turnaround That Changed Everything
Q: Walk me through the pivotal moment when Coach realized the existing strategy wasn't working and needed a complete reset.
Todd explains that the realization came gradually as results stalled and the market evolved; the company stopped defaulting to discounting, cut underperforming SKUs, shifted marketing from a 3% spend to 11%, and then embraced a long, deliberate reset focused on Gen Z, creative leadership, and a tighter product and store strategy.
