Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

79. 4 Years Sober Check-in With Ewa
Q: Did you have cravings during the transition, and how did you deal with them?
Cravings weren't about a need for drinking as much as a desire for relief, which was often addressed by healthier coping strategies such as structured meals, mindful rituals, and staying rooted in sobriety to avoid old patterns of escape.
79. 4 Years Sober Check-in With Ewa
Q: What was the hardest part about the past year and how did you work through it?
The hardest part was coping with major life changes like moving cities and quitting long-held jobs, which increased anxiety around routine. We worked through it by leaning into sobriety to regulate emotions, allowing new routines to form without turning to alcohol, and learning to sit with uncomfortable feelings.
75. Why It's More Fun Without It With Bri
Q: Did your drinking always look the same or did you ever have more of a, I wouldn't say normal relationship with alcohol, but did it escalate or was it always pretty much the same?
My drinking definitely escalated over time; it was fun at first, but then it became problematic.
75. Why It's More Fun Without It With Bri
Q: When you had that first four months of sobriety and then you went back, was it because you thought you could moderate again, or was it because you were in a situation that you had triggers that you leaned into it?
It was a conscious decision to drink again, feeling anxious about social situations and thinking it was okay to have a drink in a more casual setting.
71. Client Spotlight Series: Corianne
Q: What does it feel like to have a sober partner?
Having a sober partner is helpful and provides a great support system.
