The real story here gets buried in the repetition of the graphic (and deeply upsetting) details. Feels really exploitative and gross.
I could not get past the first episode. This is very disturbing. I listen to a lot of true crime but this was to difficult to listen to…not sure if it was poor production quality or the material. I would not recommend. I wish I could remove it from my feed…the system keeps wanting me to listen. Sorry…cannot do it.
The narration and interviews are fine quality and of course use EQ to optimize legibility and quality. Why not the police and court recordings? Is there some ethical reason not to optimize these recordings? This isn’t a legal proceeding, it’s essentially entertainment. So process difficult recordings for reasonable legibility. Isn’t that a standard professional practice?
There is so much repetitive information each episode. Several times I had to go check which episode I was listening to because I felt I was repeating one I’d already heard. Enjoyed the coverage, just too much repeat information.
I’m a big true crime fan, and this is one of the first podcast series I have to stop listening to. It is terribly edited (why must we hear up to four different people describe the exact same, horrible details? Why so much poor audio when you then have three other people say the same thing)? The first two episodes are so voyeuristic, bringing so little to the table besides blood and gore, I am horrified and bored at the same time. The poor relatives of the victim!
