As a chronic podcast listener (specifically heavy on climate and sustainability podcasts) I can say this podcasts will not disappoint those interested in the subject.

Think Like a Circular Economy VC Leader: The Corporate Venture Playbook for Sustainability
Q: What challenges do you face in funding and scaling circular economy startups, and how do you mitigate them?
Challenges include feedstock reliability, capital intensity, and long sales cycles. They mitigate by prioritizing software-enabled QA/QC, referencing customers early, maintaining a balanced portfolio with clear exit planning, and leveraging internal resources (like a dedicated role to connect portfolio companies with Heritage Group assets) to reduce risk and improve execution.
Think Like a Circular Economy VC Leader: The Corporate Venture Playbook for Sustainability
Q: How do you handle deal sourcing and ensure you're finding the right opportunities in complex industrial sectors?
They rely on a mix of inbound and outbound sourcing, with a strong emphasis on relationships and a clear thesis. 90% of the deals come through relationships, and there's a deliberate openness to unexpected opportunities that fit the thesis, including startups outside traditional circular categories. They also use their portfolio and operating company networks to identify needs and match potential solutions.
Think Like a Circular Economy VC Leader: The Corporate Venture Playbook for Sustainability
Q: What is HG Ventures' core thesis and how does it differ from more traditional climate investing?
HG Ventures invests where the Heritage Group can actively help—leveraging its assets, relationships, and operating companies to accelerate portfolio growth, scale, and market access rather than simply funding early-stage technologies. They focus on systemic innovations that align with their industrial strengths in circularity, infrastructure, and software-enabled optimization.
Transforming Waste into Hope: The Chip Bag Project
Q: What role did media exposure play in scaling the project, and how did you manage growth?
Media coverage accelerated collection and community engagement, but growth required adapting operations, scaling collection efforts, and maintaining quality control as feedstock volumes surged.
Transforming Waste into Hope: The Chip Bag Project
Q: Can you talk a little bit about, what was that original message like and how did you craft it for audiences who were new to your mission?
The founder emphasizes authenticity and a hands-on demonstration—using a personal experience in harsh winter conditions to communicate the product's real-world value and to invite the community to participate, test, and contribute feedback.
