  • Profound

I have been enjoying this podcast and the episode with Robert Falconer is probably the best and most in depth interview I have heard of his and I hope he comes back on the podcast to talk more about his new book on guides when it comes out because you two bring out a lot of wonder in eachother and it’s enjoyable as a listener!! Thank you for your dedication to such a taboo topic!! Your work is so important.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

32: Healing from Purity Culture through IFS, with Forest Benedict
Q: What changed for you to move away from the purity culture and toward self-led sexuality?
Forest describes a gradual deconstruction of his beliefs, initiated by personal trauma, a pivotal ayahuasca experience, and a commitment to IFS that helped him reframe sexuality as something to be explored with curiosity and compassion rather than suppressed or condemned.
31: BDSM Through an IFS Lens, with Leonore Tjia
Q: How can clinicians use these frameworks in therapy?
Therapists can learn from BDSM's negotiation and safety practices to help clients articulate boundaries, explore role dynamics, and foster self-attunement; using IFS alongside kink concepts can aid in healing trauma while ensuring consent and internal safety.
31: BDSM Through an IFS Lens, with Leonore Tjia
Q: Can BDSM be a safe practice, and what makes it so?
The safety comes from Risk-Aware Consensual Kink, thorough negotiation, and clear communication; when participants check in with their yes/no/maybe, and when both tops and bottoms stay attuned to their own and each other's boundaries, it can be a safe space for exploration.
31: BDSM Through an IFS Lens, with Leonore Tjia
Q: How did you first encounter IFS and how does it fit into BDSM discussions?
I started with sex education and discovered BDSM as a context where consent and communication are deeply negotiated; IFS then offered a language to understand the parts that show up in these dynamics and how self-leadership can guide safer, more intentional play.
21: Pleasure Activism and Reclaiming Eros, with Suzanne Blackburn
Q: How does age influence the experience of sexuality?
Age does not diminish the right to be a sexually charged person, and being an elder can bring valuable life experience to the work of pleasure activism.
