I have been listening to this podcast for years, but it feels like SBS are using their second and third rate journalists for this now. Some can barely read a transcript, some have interviewing skills of a primary school student.

It’s no longer enjoyable. Just frustrating

Same liberal controlled media as America. Was looking for less drama and reporting on crap, not here. Don’t waist your time.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

China’s revolving door of world leaders, DRC’s Ebola emergency & Trump’s ‘slush fund’
Q: Harry, how is the Trump settlement and the five‑member commission perceived in the context of constitutional norms and executive power?
Harry explains that while not strictly illegal, the arrangement appears highly irregular and unprecedented, leveraging executive power and political appointments in a way that challenges traditional checks and balances.
Jobless rate hits 4.5 year high as ASX posts strongest rally in weeks
Q: With the unemployment rate now at 4.5%, how would you describe the state of the labour market?
The labour market is cooling but still resilient, not absorbing new workers as easily as before, with significant weakness in younger and marginal workers offset by continued momentum in hours worked.
What proposed CGT changes mean for small business as ASX hits 7 week low
Q: Can you explain what the CGT changes will mean for businesses and how it compares to the current system?
The current system uses a 50% discount on capital gains for eligible gains, so only half of the gain is taxed, effectively reducing the tax rate on gains to around 23.5% for top marginal taxpayers. The proposed changes would abolish this discount from July 1, 2027, which could lead to higher taxable gains for many asset sales, especially for small businesses selling goodwill or other business assets. However, existing small-business concessions remain available for those who qualify, and there are also discussions about additional reductions and the potential use of superannuation contributions to reduce tax.
INTERVIEW: SBS talks to One Nation leader Pauline Hanson
Q: How do you respond to accusations that your rhetoric fosters discrimination?
I defend my stance on mass migration as a policy debate about protecting Australian jobs, housing, and social cohesion, and reject the insinuation that advocating for secure borders is inherently racist.
INTERVIEW: SBS speaks to former Biden administration staffer Cory Alpert as primary elections get underway
Q: What's your read so far on the primary results and what it means for Donald Trump's political future?
Trump maintains a strong grip on the MAGA base, and while his approval has softened, his influence persists in driving loyalty in primaries and shaping the field through endorsements and candidate alignment; Democrats appear unsettled with messaging and identity, making the path forward contingent on cohesive strategy and issue framing.
