I have been listening to this podcast for years, but it feels like SBS are using their second and third rate journalists for this now. Some can barely read a transcript, some have interviewing skills of a primary school student.

It’s no longer enjoyable. Just frustrating

Same liberal controlled media as America. Was looking for less drama and reporting on crap, not here. Don’t waist your time.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Trump’s North Korea Strategy, West Bank Siege & the AI slop antidote
Q: What do you make of the suggestion that there could be another meeting between Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump?
Flake notes that past meetings did not yield nuclear breakthroughs and that renewed summitry would require concrete, multilateral negotiations and changes on multiple fronts, suggesting cautious optimism but limited expectations.
Trump’s North Korea Strategy, West Bank Siege & the AI slop antidote
Q: What can we make of that?
Professor Flake explains that while the drills were shortened, the training objectives should remain intact, emphasizing that deterrence and readiness are the core purpose of these exercises rather than aggression.
BHP in US$9.8 Billion annual profit - driven by new biggest earner, copper
Q: For a company the size of BHP, how much is inflation a concern?
The CFO outlines that while inflation and higher energy costs are headwinds, disciplined cost management, efficiency improvements since the COVID period, and a ramp in decarbonization investments are helping to mitigate the impact on margins and profits.
BHP in US$9.8 Billion annual profit - driven by new biggest earner, copper
Q: What would this mean for South Australia and Australia in general?
The guest explains that the Olympic Dam expansion could enhance regional economic activity and energy resilience while highlighting the strategic importance of smelting near the ore body, which could have broader implications for South Australia and the national economy.
The workers at risk of being exploited by labour hire companies
Q: Dr James, why are labour hire companies an issue in Australia?
The lack of a licensing regime allows dodgy operators to enter the market, with risks of underpayment, poor conditions, and barriers to workers' access to medical care; a licensing scheme would set tests for providers and enable regulators to act on problems.
