I have been listening to this podcast for years, but it feels like SBS are using their second and third rate journalists for this now. Some can barely read a transcript, some have interviewing skills of a primary school student.

It’s no longer enjoyable. Just frustrating

TACO again? ASX soars on peace deal hopes | SpaceX’s stock market debut
Q: Matt, the ASX has soared today. What's driving the market and which sectors are influencing the moves?
Matt noted broad strength across materials and financials, with gold miners and key banks leading, while energy lagged due to falling oil prices. He also pointed to the hopeful news around a potential peace deal as a driver, and he cautioned that while SpaceX's listing generated excitement, investors should be selective given valuation concerns and how well mega-IPOs are digested by markets.
Australia's economy stalls despite data centre investment boom
Q: What do you see as the key to getting Australia's economy expanding sustainably?
The discussion emphasizes a balance between demand management and supply constraints, with productivity growth remaining soft. Achieving sustainable growth may require a continued cooling of inflation and a shift in policy focus to balance growth with inflation containment.
Australia's economy stalls despite data centre investment boom
Q: What's driving growth, and is data center investment masking the underlying trend?
Nugent points to consumption as a major driver earlier in 2025, with private business investment, particularly data centers, supporting demand but being highly input-intensive, so it doesn't dramatically lift GDP in aggregate terms.

Q: So Taylor, how would you describe the pace of economic growth in Australia?
Taylor Nugent describes growth as moderate and not rapidly accelerating, with signs of cooling from earlier momentum. He notes GDP growth around 2.5% over the past year and expects it to slow toward the 2% to 2.25% range, reflecting supply constraints and softer consumption.
China’s revolving door of world leaders, DRC’s Ebola emergency & Trump’s ‘slush fund’
Q: Harry, how is the Trump settlement and the five‑member commission perceived in the context of constitutional norms and executive power?
Harry explains that while not strictly illegal, the arrangement appears highly irregular and unprecedented, leveraging executive power and political appointments in a way that challenges traditional checks and balances.
