  • I hope it gets better

Three years of PK inserting herself and her opinions into the stories has been very tedious. For example She has been hysterical about cuts to over-servicing psychology sessions, wasted airtime with her unbridled adulation of Taylor Swift and failed to acknowledge the obvious that trump was going to win the election. Fran Kelly was very fair. I hope the Sally Sara chapter brings better balance to RN Breakfast .

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Budget 'missing' Australia's aging population, Older Women's Network says
Q: What do you think about that situation and the way the budget has responded to it?
Beverly argues that budgets are usually mixed in their outcomes, with some steps on housing but a lack of long-term, forward planning for an aging population, and that stronger public provision is needed in health and care to avoid an ever-widening gap for older Australians.
Budget 'missing' Australia's aging population, Older Women's Network says
Q: Listening to Jenny's story there, how common is that kind of situation?
Beverly Baker explains that housing and income stress among women over 50 is very common, driven by weak wage growth, insufficient social support, and rising housing costs, and that many are just managing to stay afloat but remain financially vulnerable.
Young Australians 'kneecapped' by tax changes, says shadow treasurer
Q: Would the Opposition repeal these measures when in government, if they get through?
The Coalition says their goal is to stop the measures from becoming law; if needed, they would roll them back but focus on restoring confidence and ensuring more homes are built and rents are manageable for young Australians.
Young Australians 'kneecapped' by tax changes, says shadow treasurer
Q: Do you think these measures will make a significant difference in getting more younger people into the housing market?
Tim Wilson argues that the government's budget would reduce housing supply and increase rents, and that without more supply and dampened demand, young Australians will remain blocked from home ownership; the Coalition would prioritize halting or reversing these measures and instead pursue policies to boost supply.
Changing Australia: Neil Saintilan and the world of wetlands
Q: What was it like growing up near a mangrove swamp, and how did that shape your view of these environments?
The host asks about childhood experiences near mangroves, and the guest reflects on the peacefulness of those places, their personal connection to wetlands, and how early experiences foster a lifelong interest in mangrove ecosystems.
