  • So explicitly biased

David Spears is a good host and interviewer. However at least 1, often 2, of the panel are always so blatantly and shamelessly left wing without any balance to the opposite view. The average opinion is always slanted slightly left too, so often assumptions just go unchallenged, views go uncontested and opponents go misrepresented. The snide commentary during “talking pictures” is particularly awful on this point So explicitly and arrogantly elitist and dismissive but to only one side.

  • Episode 20th March

Great episode. Addressed the big gaping reform challenge ahead of Australia and the bi partisan ignoring of same. Great to see this being addressed in contrast to cheap gotcha moments

    Thanks David

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Strait Talk: US-Iran peace stalled
Q: What is Australia's stance on the US-led blockade and how should Australia balance alliance obligations with its own national interests?
Australia will not publicly commit to specific actions without clear circumstances, but emphasizes the importance of the Strait of Hormuz being open and the global fuel supply chain functioning, while remaining engaged with allies and pursuing multilateral discussions.
The Liberal Party takes a huge gamble
Q: Do you fear the coalition's move against Net Zero could shift public opinion against this target?
Penny Wong argues that the Liberal move threatens credibility and risks higher prices for Australians, stressing that Labor remains committed to credible targets and to strengthening energy supply and affordability.
A Labor landslide in SA, as the fuel crisis deepens
Q: Where do you think we should be looking next in terms of industries to boost self-sufficiency?
Focus on sovereign capability and targeted industry policies to strengthen domestic production in key sectors like steel, critical minerals, and related manufacturing, while maintaining affordability for households.
A Labor landslide in SA, as the fuel crisis deepens
Q: What lesson do you think your Labor colleagues in other states and federally should take from this?
The leadership should balance economic prudence with delivering prosperity and not lose sight of economic justice, while remaining focused on a credible policy agenda to grow the economy and support households.
Full steam ahead on AUKUS and critical minerals after the Albanese-Trump meeting
Q: What are the main economic concerns with aggressive Net Zero targets, and how do you justify potential costs?
Canavan argued that the modelling is incomplete and warned that the cost of not pursuing a more balanced approach could outweigh the costs of transitioning, emphasizing the need to compare costs of action versus inaction and to consider the broader economic impacts, including power prices and manufacturing competitiveness.
