Podcast Episode 219 - Sovereign Over Sin
Q: Why is faith defined by obedience even when one does not feel God's presence, as illustrated by the Screwtape Letters reference?
Faith is defined by faithful obedience to God regardless of emotional certainty; true faith persists in loving and obeying God while still acknowledging God's sovereignty and grace, recognizing that feelings are not the measure of faith.
Podcast Episode 219 - Sovereign Over Sin
Q: How would you respond to the cynic who asks if God is the author of sin in this passage?
We acknowledge the problem of evil but emphasize that God's sovereignty and human responsibility coexist; we interpret hard passages through the clear truths of Scripture, like God's goodness and faithfulness in Psalm 145, and trust that God can use even bad things for ultimate good without making Him the author of sin.
Podcast Episode 217 - Getting to Know Amy Hambly - Music Ministries Coordinator
Q: What keeps you grounded in ministry amid the pressures of leading worship?
Amy emphasizes theology, church participation, and teamwork, along with a posture of humility before God, recognizing that worship is a collective effort rather than a solo display.
Podcast Episode 217 - Getting to Know Amy Hambly - Music Ministries Coordinator
Q: How do you serve here at Saylorville Church?
She explains she handles scheduling, forming vocal and instrumental teams, planning set lists and service orders, and aligning songs with scripture and the congregation's needs through prayer and teamwork.
Podcast Episode 217 - Getting to Know Amy Hambly - Music Ministries Coordinator
Q: Tell us a little about yourself and your background.
Amy shares growing up as a pastor's kid in small-town Iowa, accepting Christ at four, and later pursuing education and music, which shaped her path into church ministry.
