Ever heard that "nice guys finish last?"

Well, after this episode, I'm not sure you'll believe that anymore!

Enjoy.

Luke just went back to one of his old spots from 10 years ago... the spot where he would go to catch a 26+ inch speckled trout back in his tournament days.

Listen in on what happened, what shocked him, and the lessons learned.

Tight lines.

If you're not saving as much money as you would like, then you've got to hear this message. It takes away the complicated and overwhelming parts, for sure.

Much love.

Joe

Still relying on live bait to catch redfish, trout, snook, and flounder?

Don't worry, you aren't alone.

At the same time, I'd be doing a disservice if I didn't share today's message.

Tight lines and enjoy!

  • Why “Unchurched?”

The fishing parts of the podcast are terrific. Lots of good information to prepare you for when you’re on the water. The Unchurched portions seem out of place. I’m here for fishing, not religious preacher from a non-ordained self preacher. Not sure why there are more Unchurched episodes vs Fishing episodes because this is marketing as a Fishing Podcast. Do a separate Podcast for Unchurched and keep Salt Strong focused on Fishing. Please.

  • Love this podcast, and company!

Recently joins the insider club. I’ve been watching their videos on YouTube for a while now and just recently started listening to their podcast. As much as I love fishing, their UNCHURCHED series is amazing. It definitely makes support his company a whole lot easier knowing that they share the same beliefs as I do! Keep up the great work!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

EP 691 - Introducing the Florida Coastal Corridor
Q: What is your background and what does the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida do?
Nick Wiley describes a long career with FWC, leadership as executive director, and then moving to the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida to connect anglers and hunters with funding and to support conservation projects.
EP 689: Turn Your Phone Into A BOAT GPS on Steroids!
Q: What app features make it a viable alternative to traditional boat GPS?
The app provides route planning, live tracking, private pins, photo uploads, tide and weather context, and automated logging that stays with your profile even if the phone loses GPS coverage, plus private sharing controls and private data storage for each user.
EP 682: How 2,000 Catch Logs Help This Angler Predict Redfish & Trout
Q: How does the Smart Fishing Spots tool help you plan a day on the water?
It filters historical catches by tide, wind, moon phase, and weather, then guides you to likely spots for the target species, dramatically reducing time on water and increasing catch probability.
EP 673: Why Every Saltwater Angler Needs A WEAK Knot...
Q: Why is any knot like the Uni or blood knot with turns considered weaker in this setup?
Because turns and constrictions create localized stress points; when you contort the line at a single point, you introduce a weak point that breaks before the rest of the assembly, especially when you are using a thin braid with a heavier leader.
EP 669: Is This Braided Line Unfair On The Flats???
Q: Would you use an 8 or 6-pound braid around docks or oysters?
No, you should use at least 20-pound braid around docks because you need more power and control.
