Ep. 346 - Great AMAZON Fishing Accessories, Evergreen's New BACKSLIDING Craw, Multispecies Fishing, and More!
Q: With the NFL Draft chatter and forward-facing sonar, will Dean Rojas' single-day record ever be broken, and if so where and by whom?
Yes, I think the record will be broken someday, given tech advances and new fisheries. Lake Fork is my top prediction, with options like Falcon Lake or Santee as backups, and Trey McKinney as a plausible future holder given his track record in big events.
Ep. 346 - Great AMAZON Fishing Accessories, Evergreen's New BACKSLIDING Craw, Multispecies Fishing, and More!
Q: I was wondering if you've ever gone micro fishing or multispecies fishing, and what your experience has been.
I've dabbled in micro-fishing from childhood streams, catching tiny creek chubs, and I enjoy multi-species fishing when it involves larger species like musky, walleye, and sawguy; I value the breadth it adds to being a well-rounded angler and learning from different species' behaviors.
Ep. 346 - Great AMAZON Fishing Accessories, Evergreen's New BACKSLIDING Craw, Multispecies Fishing, and More!
Q: Hey Andrew, when it comes to kayak fishing, how much wind do you consider too dangerous to be out on the water?
Wind danger is highly situational and water-specific; there is no universal number. The key is how wind interacts with water and water conditions on a given body of water, plus your experience. In rivers, wind can be more disruptive, while in big lakes, even modest wind can escalate quickly into danger. Safety basics apply: wear a life jacket, fish with a buddy, have a plan, stay near shore, and pick safer conditions when in doubt.
Ep. 344 - Our Favorite NED RIG WORMS, Top 3 JERKBAITS, An MLF Video Game, and An Exciting New Reel from.. ABU GARCIA?
Q: What action should I get for a jerk bait rod?
Prefer a moderate fast action (about seven feet or less, 8-12 lb fluorocarbon) to allow a little give and keep fish pinned without overpowering light trebles; a stiffer rod can be too aggressive for many jerkbait setups.
Ep. 345 - The WORST Fishing Lines, A New Reel From ARK, REDCREST Recap, Megabass Vision 110+2 Jr., and More!
Q: What's the deal with back reeling on spinning reels?
Back reeling can reduce drag strain during a fight by allowing a controlled backward spool rotation; it's a manual drag technique that can help manage line with careful thumb control.
