Love the podcast. Been an avid fisherman my whole life. Currently being captain and hauling my son all over Louisiana fishing Louisiana Highschool Youth BASS Nation. I found the podcast and started listening around episode 20 or 30. I’ve tuned in every week since and also listened to all the previous since episode number 1!

  • Great Show

This show is awesome. Biggest complaint is Kyle Patrick always eating while on the show. He sounds ridiculous and so unprofessional.

Paul Marks and Chris Johnston: Back-to-Back Winners Get Real on MERCER-263
Q: How did the koi key pattern start to dominate during practice, and why was it so effective?
The koi key emerged when the angler started power fishing docks with a unique, large, treble-hook setup that allowed the lure to shed off brush and sit in the strike zone, prompting big bites. Practice on Santee Cooper showed multiple four-to-eight pounders, and the presentation—the rapid popping and the lure's back-in-mouth action—made it a standout pattern that produced consistent giants.
Buddy Jaron Snuck Into the Bassmaster Classic...as Boat 26 + Byron Velvick on MERCER-262
Q: How did Buddy Jaron come up with the idea to fish Bassmaster Classic as Boat 26?
Dave Mercer encouraged the stunt and they quickly ideated a spiel; Buddy rushed plans, bought a boat, and prepared a video the night before, leading to the takeoff moment.
Jason Christie: The BOX MAKER (What It Takes to CLOSE & the “Unwritten Rules”) on MERCER-256
Q: What was the reaction at home when you won?
Christie described a mix of pride and relief, noting support from family and friends, and the sense that the win validated years of hard preparation and steady focus.
Seth Feider: I Start Shaking When I'm About to Catch Them on MERCER-252
Q: What is the best part about competing in the Classic?
The best part is entering the arena with the crowd behind you, the confetti and trophy moment, and feeling like you're part of something uniquely special—an experience that stands out even among elite events.
Nick Trim, Noah Winslow & Dylan Nutt on MERCER-237
Q: How have the boys' backgrounds influenced their fishing styles?
They all attribute their skills to time spent fishing with family and mentors.
