Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 180: "Boom or Bust - Ballarat" 3
Q: What running gear do you prefer for your long runs?
I like wearing shoes that are stable and comfortable for long runs, and I tend to wear something that doesn't feel amazing so that I notice the responsiveness of my super shoes even more on race day.
Ep 180: "Boom or Bust - Ballarat" 3
Q: What did you do to warm up and switch on before your 5 a.m. starts?
I normally start slow and take at least the first 10 minutes easy. I might have a piece of toast or coffee beforehand if I'm not racing out the door.
Ep 177: RE-RELEASE (2020): Dr. Keith Livingstone- An amazing insight into the Principles of Arthur Lydiard.
Q: When do you sort of add in some short sprints, or hill bounds, or fartlegs to sort of liven up that steady training?
Once a week, you might go and do a fartleg, built into a winter program of aerobic buildup with gradual incorporation of speed work.
Ep 177: RE-RELEASE (2020): Dr. Keith Livingstone- An amazing insight into the Principles of Arthur Lydiard.
Q: How did you get into running?
I grew up in O'oraka, Auckland, and was heavily influenced by the local running culture and Arthur Lydiard's proximity.
Ep. 55- How to better Individualize your training plan? with Greg McMillan
Q: What tips would you give to a coach looking to improve their small group’s performance?
Start with passion for coaching, develop a clear coaching philosophy, and be open to learning and making adjustments based on what works for athletes.
