  • No real complaint… except…

They’re commenting on subjects they don’t know. I was willing to overlook your use of “Dark Night of the Soul,” because you were using the common sense of it.

But then you invoked St John of the Cross and the “original” meaning of the phrase… and got it wrong. The original meaning isn’t about despair or anything negative, it’s about the time when the lover is free to go to the beloved.

Read the poem if you’re going to reference it.

Q: How has your relationship with art and creativity evolved after stepping back from the central artist identity?
Rather than a disappearance of art, there is a redefinition of its meaning—art remains essential as personal expression, and creativity can flourish even when not tied to a career identity; the process can deepen engagement with art and lead to new avenues of expression.

Q: What does the term purpose mean for you, and how do you find yours?
Purpose is deeply personal and may be found not just in a single job but in how you live in each area of life, including family and community; it requires listening to inner guidance and doing emotional work like meditation and journaling to uncover what truly matters.
To Journal or Not to Journal in 2026?
Q: Can you maybe briefly say, how do we recognize if free association journaling is turning into rumination?
