I canโt say enough great things about this podcast. Any one who is interested in black mental health should subscribe.
I discovered this podcast about two months ago. I am so impressed with the knowledge presented from Black male mental health to how to talk to your child about coping with their emotions as it relates to racism. These aren't topics that are normally discussed. Dr. Thornton addresses issues that we think about, but don't really address, meaning we've normalized our problems to the point where we don't discuss them. Dr. Amber Thornton brightens my day, period. I am not a podcast listener, typically, but A Different Perspective has me coming back again and again! 5 stars!
I really LOVE this podcast!! I love the way Dr. Amber breaks down the information and gives examples & analogies. Learning symptoms was sooooo key & informative to know the difference between an emotional state vs. a potential clinical condition. I even tried a few other podcasts by black psychologists, and they just DO NOT compare to this one. Keep up the AWESOME work Dr. Thornton!! You are a jewel to our community ๐

Super helpful and empowering!
Dr. Thornton is an unmatched contribution to the podcast space, and even as I'm just beginning to listen to her brilliant, honest, courageous wisdom I can see her impact on my thinking and personal growth, as well as on my recent-BSW-graduate professional perspective.
Thank you so much, Amber Thornton!
I found Dr. Thornton's podcast while searching for mental health information specific to the African American community, and I love it. I have learned so much, and enjoy every episode. The episode about natural hair is awesome. xoxoxo
I'm a psychology major and I'm so happy to have found a psychology podcast hosted by a young black women that I can relate to.
Great Podcast , I've been diagnosed with depression/anxiety recently, it's hard to find black people that talk about it
Love the podcast
I'm so glad that I came across this podcast. It's nice to hear from a professional WOC alongside the work that I do with a professional in my city and learning more about the impact that life events have had on my mental wellness and moving forward.
I just recently came across this podcast last week & I love it! It's very dope to hear the perspective of a black psychologist with it not being so many out there. I credit her with making me realize it's ok to see a therapist for my own mental issues I struggle with. Highly recommended!
I was lost on my own personal mental health issues and when I listened to this podcast, I gained a greater understanding of what I am going through and given great advice on where to start with my own mental health therapy. She is amazing!!!!
As a young woman interested in the field of psychology this podcast offers insight and inspiration. Dr. Thornton is passionate about what she does and offers good and thoughtful advice. Everyone should listen to this podcast it's AMAZING!
