  • Unsurprisingly very BBC biased

The BBC is coming under a lot of fire from the constant accusations of left-wing bias. Endless arguments are proffered, but just take the Trump speech debacle as illustrative of the endemic bias within the BBC’s bubble—that complete misrepresentation of Trump’s speech, effectively demanding his followers to riot, was a complete falsehood—yet this gets called a simple mistake! Literally editing it in such a way as to invert what was actually said. This BeebWatch podcast skips over the bias... more

  • Hands off our BEEB

Excellent coverage in all the misinformation and hype. It’s critical that the BBC resist what is ultimately a power grab. An excellent lawyer in Florida would be Michael Popok (Legal AF )

  • This is NOT a "Beeb Watch" it is just a BBC Cheer Leader exercise not an independent Podcast. Bolton constantly ensures any guest is as pro BBC and DEFINITELY Anti GBNews as he desires.

    Balanced? No way.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Liam Byrne MP on Populism, GB News, Ofcom and the Future of the BBC
Q: Can regulation curb the influence of money in politics and media, particularly around GB News?
Byrne advocates stronger regulation of political donations, greater transparency in funding, and a proactive Ofcom approach to ensure impartiality and integrity in broadcasting and online distribution, warning that lax oversight threatens democratic processes.
Liam Byrne MP on Populism, GB News, Ofcom and the Future of the BBC
Q: Are you sure they're winning?
Byrne argues that while populism has grown, a combination of globalization backlash, social fragmentation, and political energy suggests it remains a powerful but contestable force; the takeaway is that without decisive action, populist currents could consolidate but are not inevitable.
Prof Lee Edwards on Lisa Nandy’s BBC charter speech, the charter “consultation” and what accountability should look like
Q: Is mutualization a viable model for BBC governance and accountability?
Mutualization could democratize control by giving members rights and powers in key decisions, such as commissioning and hiring, while not turning staff into editors; it would require careful design to avoid undermining editorial independence.
Prof Lee Edwards on Lisa Nandy’s BBC charter speech, the charter “consultation” and what accountability should look like
Q: What would you advise the new BBC Director General to do to approach accountability and public involvement?
Always place the public at the center, consider the survey responses seriously, be willing to test new accountability approaches in stages (e.g., council-style involvement in commissioning), and be prepared to adjust based on what works.
Prof Lee Edwards on Lisa Nandy’s BBC charter speech, the charter “consultation” and what accountability should look like
Q: Just before we get going, what is the Media Reform Coalition for those who don't know?
The MRC is a civil society organization founded in 2011 in response to the Leveson Inquiry, aimed at fighting for a democratic and accountable media across the UK, with a focus on public service media and media ownership.
