  • Disappointed

Dismayed at the title of the recent offering, ‘Is this what globalizing the intifada looks like? ‘ well no actually, why link an act of violence by a man struggling with mental health issues to protests against Palestinian injustice? Sloppy, sensationalist journalism from a podcast that, up to now, had reflected a diversity of opinion in a calm and rational manner. A big fail by a normally reliable source of news and comment.

  • Harry and Megan

Just registering my disagreement that Harry and Megan have no support in the UK or US they are certainly talked down in some of the press and social media but I feel a great deal of sympathy for their position, and wish them well. Harry was born a royal and the fact Charles and William haven't helped with security costs despite the threats Harry and his family face, and the enormous fortune Charles and William make from the royal estates seems unjustifiable to me. I think William and Kate in par... more

  • Sadly Just Infuriating

I admire the attempt to bring balance but the podcast is almost unlistenable with the sheer level of lies and propaganda that is getting spewed out now. It’s everywhere and progressive coverage offering it up as balance just gives more oxygen to the nonsense.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

‘They put me in jail’: the interview you rarely hear from inside Iran
Q: Is there a path to a permanent peace or ceasfire extension?
The guest argues that both sides may prefer peace over renewed conflict, but hardliners on both sides benefit from tension; a durable peace would require reducing sanctions and engaging with reformist elements to leverage gradual change.
‘They put me in jail’: the interview you rarely hear from inside Iran
Q: What should he be doing to get us right?
The guest suggests that, rather than attempting regime change, the Western powers should cooperate with the Islamic Republic to foster economic development and reduce sanctions, which could support reformists and gradual change.
Ebola outbreak could be getting out control amid aid cuts, says frontline doctor
Q: What role do Western donors play in shaping the response strategy?
Donors influence funding for frontline health services and vaccination programs; cuts can hollow out health systems, reduce collaboration with bodies like the WHO, and hinder rapid deployment of essential resources.
Ebola outbreak could be getting out control amid aid cuts, says frontline doctor
Q: Why is trust so critical in the response, especially regarding clinical trials?
Trust ensures communities accept prevention measures and participate in trials, which are necessary to develop vaccines and treatments; without trusted local leadership and culturally sensitive approaches, interventions fail to reach the people who need them most.
Ebola outbreak could be getting out control amid aid cuts, says frontline doctor
Q: What makes this Ebola outbreak in the DRC different from past outbreaks?
It is occurring in a more remote, conflict-affected area with limited health infrastructure, the strain is unusual and without known vaccines or treatments, and there is a significant risk of cross-border spread without rapid, trusted community engagement.
