  • Incessant unrelated audio clips ruin the show

Frank presents a ton of useful, well-researched information about investing. However, his almost unceasing use of unrelated audio clips from old movies and tv shows make it impossible to enjoy the show.

  • I downloaded a few episodes today Sept 29,2025. I got less than 5 minutes in and can't stand the movie lines and sound bits added in. They were in the middle of reading an email that was sent in and kept stopping the dictation of the email to play stupid sound bites. It was terrible and unconsumable for me which is a shame because Frank is such a pillar of the ChooseFI Facebook community.

  • You’ll love it or hate it

I listened to a couple episodes of this podcast. The format is unconventional. You will either find it incredibly entertaining or terribly annoying. I’m not sure yet where I stand.

Episode 463: Pros And Cons of Leverage, Tax Buckets, Small Cap Value And Retirement Spending Frameworks
Q: Is a hybrid approach of mandatory and discretionary withdrawal strategies reasonable?
You might be over-engineering things; it's better to figure out your actual expenses first before splitting them rigidly.
Episode 463: Pros And Cons of Leverage, Tax Buckets, Small Cap Value And Retirement Spending Frameworks
Q: Can you explain your reasoning for fund selection to fill the small cap value spot?
When I set up portfolios, I wanted to focus on asset classes first, and while AVUV has advantages, I originally used popular indices to represent them like VIOV.
Episode 463: Pros And Cons of Leverage, Tax Buckets, Small Cap Value And Retirement Spending Frameworks
Q: What are your thoughts on adding more to traditional retirement accounts instead of Roth to set myself up for a more efficient portfolio later?
