I hated Gold, Bonds and was worried about a 10 year flat or down stock market

  • Good ideas, poor execution

At the end, I will tell you better podcasts to learn from instead.

    Frank’s ideas are interesting.

But his choice of podcast structure (yes, the sound effects) tells me he is more interested in tickling his own funny bone than educating people.

Just like his behavior on social media tells me he’s more interested in stroking his ego by being rude to people than he is in helping/educating people.

    It’s a shame.

If you want real education, go here instead:

  • Incessant unrelated audio clips ruin the show

Frank presents a ton of useful, well-researched information about investing. However, his almost unceasing use of unrelated audio clips from old movies and tv shows make it impossible to enjoy the show.

  • I downloaded a few episodes today Sept 29,2025. I got less than 5 minutes in and can't stand the movie lines and sound bits added in. They were in the middle of reading an email that was sent in and kept stopping the dictation of the email to play stupid sound bites. It was terrible and unconsumable for me which is a shame because Frank is such a pillar of the ChooseFI Facebook community.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 475: Managing An Inherited Roth IRA, Roth vs. Traditional Tax Locations, Some Basics With Resources, And Portfolio Reviews As Of December 26, 2025
Q: Do you have any experience with being a limited partner?
I've invested in peer-to-peer lending, which is illiquid and not tax efficient, so I avoid those types of investments now.
Episode 475: Managing An Inherited Roth IRA, Roth vs. Traditional Tax Locations, Some Basics With Resources, And Portfolio Reviews As Of December 26, 2025
Q: Could you quickly speak to my equity allocations more generally?
Most of the difference between international and US stocks deals with currency valuations; usually, it should be limited to one third, but VXUS is not recommended due to performance.
Episode 475: Managing An Inherited Roth IRA, Roth vs. Traditional Tax Locations, Some Basics With Resources, And Portfolio Reviews As Of December 26, 2025
Q: What's my opinion of your drawdown strategy?
It's complicated; you should generally leave the inherited Roth as is for as long as possible to maximize tax-free growth, rather than frequent withdrawals.
Episode 473: Merry Christmas From Testfolio, More Cowbell, KBWP, And Fund Seeder Mania
Q: Can you explain the underperformance of my portfolio for 2022?
The account you're tracking is mostly in risky growth stocks, which experienced a downturn due to market conditions and leverage, distorting the returns you're seeing.
Episode 473: Merry Christmas From Testfolio, More Cowbell, KBWP, And Fund Seeder Mania
Q: Could you talk about any reservation you'd have shifting more portfolio weight to small cap value, like in the examples above?
There's a debate about whether small cap value will outperform in the future; performance has been comparable to large cap growth over long periods, so it's better to diversify.
