  • Great guests, great questions, perfect length, rubbish editing

It may just be a personal thing but I get distracted with very obvious editing in podcasts. It disrupts the flow and natural element of a conversation and becomes very cold and robotic. Unfortunately that’s very evident in this series. Aside from this annoyance, really insightful content.

What Makes a Top VC Fund Today? Dave Neumann at Schroders Capital on LP Thinking, DPI and Venture Returns
Q: how much do you think about portfolio construction when selecting funds?
He notes that while portfolio construction patterns vary, the backbone is backing GPs with proven multi-vintage performance, maintaining diversification, and ensuring the team can deliver across stages—from seed to growth—while managing liquidity and exit horizons.
What Makes a Top VC Fund Today? Dave Neumann at Schroders Capital on LP Thinking, DPI and Venture Returns
Q: what does a good VC look like today?
Dave explains that a good VC today combines long-term thinking, strength in firm governance, and the ability to sustain performance across vintage years, not just chasing the next fund. The emphasis is on the execution discipline, talent retention, and the flywheel effect of a high-performing portfolio, with a focus on DPI and liquidity dynamics in both the US and Europe.
Nikola Mrkšić, Co-Founder & CEO at PolyAI on Building One of the World’s Leading Voice AI Companies
Q: Nikola, where do you see your moat coming from in the voice AI space?
The moat comes from deep enterprise integrations, data ownership, and the effort required to re-create the end-to-end setup across telephony, loyalty systems, and tickets, which makes churn risk decrease as deployments scale.
Tony Jamous & Hadi Moussa at Oyster HR on leadership transition, CEO succession and unlocking global talent
Q: Why did you not pursue an internal hire for the new CEO, and what advantages do fresh eyes bring?
The team considered internal options but chose fresh eyes to bring new energy, structure, and experience from other high-growth companies, ensuring the transition wouldn't anchor Oyster to past patterns and allowing scalable execution.
George Davis, Founder & CEO at Lorum on Rebuilding Global Clearing, Why Dollars Are Broken, and Building a Payments Only Bank
Q: What has been the most satisfying moment of the journey so far, and how did you navigate tougher periods?
The most satisfying moment was last year's growth, when the business multiplied 55X; the team worked through intense demand and kept transparency, which helped sustain morale. The early licensing and regulatory challenges in the Middle East were tough, but overcoming them and achieving rapid growth confirmed the viability of our approach to clearing rails.
