  • Endless Audio Issues!

The purpose, content and guests on this show are first rate BUT the audio issues, skipping, stuttering, etc within so many episodes often makes the whole episode (and increasingly the whole show) un-listen-able! Please STOP publishing episodes without cleaning up the audio stuttering, skipping, etc problems first!

Simple Daily Habits to Improve Healthspan
Q: What is the epigenetic impact of practices like yoga and meditation on stress and inflammation?
Yoga and meditation can turn certain genes on and off in ways that reduce inflammation and increase resilience; they also help increase telomere length, which is associated with better aging and stress handling. These practices support parasympathetic activation and improve heart rate variability, contributing to a healthier gut-brain axis and improved recovery.
Plant Protein Myths, Cholesterol, and Omega Balance
Q: Is dietary cholesterol the cause of heart disease or a benchmark for how much animal protein we're getting?
The host frames the question around the role of dietary cholesterol; the guest explains that while cholesterol in the blood correlates with heart disease risk, in people eating a plant-forward diet, cholesterol levels can drop significantly, and heart disease risk is influenced by multiple factors beyond dietary cholesterol alone.
Hormones, Menstrual Pain, and Menopause Relief
Q: Why should someone avoid dairy if they have a history of breast cancer?
Dairy can contain lactose and estrogens like estradiol from cows, which can influence hormone-driven cancer pathways; replacing dairy with plant-based calcium sources like greens and fortified products is encouraged to limit estrogen exposure.
Hormones, Menstrual Pain, and Menopause Relief
Q: What does someone do if they get overwhelmed by all the conflicting nutrition messaging?
Stick with a science-based approach, start with simple, practical steps, and rely on reputable sources and clinicians who emphasize whole-food, plant-based options over highly processed products. The guest also points to established studies and a gradual trial period to assess personal response.
Insulin Resistance, Inflammation, and Alzheimer’s Risk
Q: What is the role of heavy metals and detox strategies in preventing or treating cognitive decline?
Detox strategies are presented as part of a broader approach including reducing exposure, diet, and targeted therapies when needed. The discussion emphasizes that heavy metals can be sequestered in biofilms or hidden in the body, and that some interventions may help accelerate removal for those with measurable toxicity.
