  • Conversational and educational

LOL’d at the comment about not getting political. If you’re here for easy to digest and scientifically accurate information with guests who you want to become friends with, this is a great podcast for you. If you are looking for opportunities to fuel your polarizing views on America, maybe keep your nonsense to social media.

  • Was on the fence but the last episode was the determination

After this past episode I will not be listening again. Let’s stop politicizing things. Saying that you aren’t not political doesn’t mean that you aren’t going down the path. The math may not be mathing now- but it certainly didn’t math before.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

EP 46: Athlete-Specific Care: A Game Changer in Eating Disorder Treatment
Q: Why isn't standard eating disorder treatment always effective for athletes?
Athlete-focused care requires providers trained in both eating disorders and the specific demands of sport, including athlete identity, energy availability, and the need to reintegrate training safely. General treatments may miss sport-related nuances, leading to mismatches between therapy and athletic goals.
EP 46: Athlete-Specific Care: A Game Changer in Eating Disorder Treatment
Q: But what makes high-performance athletes more vulnerable to eating disorders?
High-performance athletes tend to be extremely driven with perfectionistic traits; the combination of unrelenting standards, intense training pressures, and an environment that rewards discipline can create a vulnerability, especially when the athlete identity becomes tightly linked to performance and the need to meet external demands.
EP 44: Post-Marathon Mistakes to Avoid with Nick Klastava
Q: How should runners plan their season after a marathon?
Divide the year into seasons, allow for a break after the race, reintroduce base training, and then progressively rebuild toward the next goal while considering climate and local conditions.
EP 44: Post-Marathon Mistakes to Avoid with Nick Klastava
Q: What mindset helps athletes handle post-race emotions?
Acknowledge all emotions, avoid letting them dictate immediate next steps, and emphasize pride in the preparation and experience rather than just the clock time.
EP 44: Post-Marathon Mistakes to Avoid with Nick Klastava
Q: How should an athlete think about recovery after a marathon?
Prioritize a proper recovery window, fuel adequately, sleep, and avoid rushing into a new race or heavy workouts; start with a slow return to base training and build gradually.
