  • A mini book club

Well this is grand! It's like a miniature book club (with short stories instead of books) in which you don't have to read the story in advance because someone reads it to you. And then you can listen to people have a natter about the story - which actually does sound like the kind of conversation you'd get in a book club (if you go to one where people have read the book). • Flopsy

I love being read to and oh the joy of hearing stories from The Friend written a hundred years ago! Not so keen to hear the discussion from younger members who jolt you back into the harsh ugly reality of the thoughts of modern day. Please let the stories stand alone for enjoyment. There has never been any sense in applying reality to any People’s Friend story. They are an escape from reality and all readers know that.

  • The MacPeever’s Christmas Cards

Very funny, just the thing for a snowy evening. Reminds me of the radio dramas of the ‘olden’ days. Judey has a wonderful voice for reading, also enjoy her reading the People’s Friend audio stories.

Well done. I looked forward to more stories.
