  • Identity shift

Listening to the podcast is now part of my every day. All of the advice has helped me to become a better version of myself. I particularly liked the quote “I become the person who loses the weight and then I lose it” so now I don’t talk about my plans anymore, instead I talk about what I do. So I’ll say things like “I workout”, “I eat protein with each meal”, “I do hard things” and I am proud of myself. Thanks Trent 😃

Follower Q and A: Building Muscle in a Calorie Deficit, Best type of cardio, best workout split, and more | #475
Q: Is running or walking better for cortisol, and how should I approach cardio for fat loss and health?
Both running and walking can contribute to fat loss if done consistently, but cortisol impact depends on overall stress, sleep, and training balance. Running is okay if enjoyable and not overdone; walking is universally accessible and beneficial for daily activity. A mix of eight to ten thousand steps daily with zone two cardio two to three times per week, plus occasional higher-intensity sessions, aligns with most people's goals and health benefits.
Follower Q and A: Building Muscle in a Calorie Deficit, Best type of cardio, best workout split, and more | #475
Q: What is the best workout split?
The best split isn't a universal answer; it depends on your goals and schedule. Three days a week can work well with a full-body or upper/lower split, four days often works well with an upper/lower arrangement, and five days can follow a push/pull/legs or chest/back oriented plan, as long as total weekly volume and recovery are managed.
Follower Q & A: How to heal a bad relationship with food, how do you stay accountable in your goals? How to progressive overload, and more | #457
Q: How do I break past a plateau?
Ensure that you're consistent with your fitness approach and tracking, then consider adjusting your calorie intake or incorporating a diet break if you've been in a deficit for too long.
Follower Q & A: How to heal a bad relationship with food, how do you stay accountable in your goals? How to progressive overload, and more | #457
Q: How do I know when to progress to a heavier weight on an exercise?
You should focus on intensity rather than a fixed number of reps, aiming to push yourself to near failure before increasing weights.
Follower Q & A: How to heal a bad relationship with food, how do you stay accountable in your goals? How to progressive overload, and more | #457
Q: I have a horrible relationship with food, like bad. How can I fix this?
Fixing a relationship with food takes time and involves identifying triggers, managing emotions without turning to food, and removing unhealthy temptations from the environment.
