Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#235 - Laura Vanderkam - Stop Lying to Yourself About Productivity
Q: I've heard you write about time being elastic. What do you mean by that?
Time can stretch to fit what we decide is important; crises force us to reprioritize and make space for what truly matters, showing that our schedules are malleable when our priorities rise.
#238 - Dr Warren Farrell - The Truth About the Masculinity Crisis
Q: What practical steps can couples take to improve communication and reduce conflict?
Develop a habit of listening without immediately offering advice, create regular times to discuss concerns, and practice appreciations at multiple levels of specificity to strengthen emotional safety and connection.
#238 - Dr Warren Farrell - The Truth About the Masculinity Crisis
Q: How does the conversation about gender and pay gaps get distorted in public discourse, and how can it be reframed?
The guest argues that pay gaps often reflect differing life choices and responsibilities rather than unfair oppression; reframing should focus on choices and opportunities, such as the different parental roles and work-life decisions that influence earnings.
#238 - Dr Warren Farrell - The Truth About the Masculinity Crisis
Q: What qualifies as father deprivation and how does it differ from fatherlessness?
Father deprivation describes a pattern where the father is physically present but emotionally or attentively absent, especially on weekdays, leading to negative outcomes for the child; fatherlessness is a broader term, but the guest emphasizes that both parents can be involved and that kids benefit from active dad engagement.
