  • Great podcast

I would say this is the Adult version of Cut & Retie but that could be interpreted wrong.

  • Very few that hit the spot like this

Joe has literally saved my life over the years with his classic not taking life too seriously and jumping in with both feet type attitude… this podcast is more of the same. Very excited for us anglers who have the itch to learn more and more about every single nuanced fishing… This scratches that itch..

  • Classic Cermele

I thought this show’s layout would be too mild-mannered for Joe - I’m pleased to have been proven wrong. Neatly packaged and Classic Joe Cermele

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 64 - The Subtle Art of Fishing Shad Spoons
Q: How do you deliver a spoon from shore, and what setups work best?
The recommended approach is a Carolina rig with a bullet weight and a few feet of leader, which keeps the spoon in the strike zone while allowing for deep water or current; on boats, a hookless crankbait behind a diving lure can pull the spoon down to the desired depth.
Ep. 64 - The Subtle Art of Fishing Shad Spoons
Q: How did you get into the Shad Spoon game?
Steve explains he started making Shad Spoons out of necessity because they were hard to find, especially in Connecticut and nearby regions, and he saw a gap in the market which led him to develop his own version, initially borrowing from local Dart techniques and evolving toward the Willow Leaf design.
Ep. 60 - How to Adjust Your Temperature Control
Q: How important is the 50-degree threshold in practice?
It's a practical indicator that signals when migratory and feeding activity picks up, especially in moving water; the day-to-day variation in temperature requires watching gauges and forecasts rather than relying on last week's conditions.
Ep. 44 - If You Can Tie These 3 Flies, You Can Tie Anything
Q: What about in the nymph world?
The gold-ribbed hare's ear is a good learning fly that covers essential techniques for tying nymphs.
Ep. 44 - If You Can Tie These 3 Flies, You Can Tie Anything
Q: Is there a particular style that you would tell people to start with in the dry fly world?
Start with a traditional dry fly thing, like the Catskill style, which will teach you essential techniques for flying fishing.
