  • One Word…Audio

Worthy of 10 stars…if not for audio issues. Please don’t hate the messenger.

God this is a great podcast but the difference in the volume between the two hosts makes it really hard to enjoy it. I WANT to listen but I either can’t hear one or get blown out by the other. I love the exuberance but it hurts my ears.

Sorry. I want to say amazing things about this podcast. Can you modulate them audio a bit?

  • Fun podcast

I am a big lesfic fan and I’m late to this podcast (on week #6, maybe?), but recently started following both of these women on Social media. Since I started listening I’ve figured out that I’m going to have to have my notebook open for notes on the queer content they discuss. The reason for this is that I agree with their recommendations on most of the stuff I’ve already consumed, but, on a recommendation from Tara I read one of the funniest books I’ve read in awhile & that’s saying something. ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Queer crime fiction with Salem West & John Copenhaver (QR 116)
Q: Why are short stories scary to write, and how did the editors address this in the anthology?
Both editors note that short stories require packing a complete, compelling arc into a small space, which can be daunting; they encouraged writers to approach the form with flexibility around icon references and to craft powerful, mood-driven pieces that still connect to a broader queer history and community.
Queer crime fiction with Salem West & John Copenhaver (QR 116)
Q: What led to this anthology being created?
Salem describes how a 2023 survey of crime fiction anthologies revealed that only about 1% of stories were written by queer writers, which motivated both editors to collaborate and create a collection that amplifies queer voices and explores a range of sub-genres and tones.
