  • Podcast has turned into an advertisement for becoming a member

Used to be a staple of my triathlon and fitness education and was a former PP athlete but I feel that podcasts as of late are just advertisements for becoming a PP athlete.

  • Used to be better

I was a big follower and also bought the books. However in the last year or so, this seems to have become a commercial platform pushing testing companies and other products. Has become a lot like Triathlon Taren (Motiv). Hopefully can come back from this…..

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

399 - A 2:34 Boston Marathon on 35mi/week: Rewriting The Marathon Training Playbook
Q: What advice would you give someone aiming for their first marathon?
Find a community you trust, rely on a flexible plan, and focus on the component parts (tempo, hills, threshold work) rather than chasing the full marathon every week; trust that the integrated system will come together at race pace.
399 - A 2:34 Boston Marathon on 35mi/week: Rewriting The Marathon Training Playbook
Q: How did coaching and the support network help you stay on track?
Brad's routine check-ins, clear explanations of weekly goals, and the ability to tailor sessions around life events kept me accountable and confident, while Renee's proactive mobility work prevented setbacks and maintained race-readiness.
394 - Kona-Bound on 6-10 Hrs/Wk: A Busy Doctor & Mom Just Rewrote the IRONMAN Training Playbook
Q: So why don't you just give the listeners a little grounding of who is Stephanie, your upbringing, where you grew up, your family now, education and everything that shaped you?
Stephanie shares growing up in Portland, early athletic life, a medical education path, and how she shifted from being a self-described nerd to a physician who uses structured, focused training to manage a busy life. She explains balancing family, career, and sport while staying motivated.
393 - Female Performance Through Perimenopause and Menopause with Rachel Schaefer
Q: What is the dominant theme of this conversation?
The dominant theme is reframing menopause as a developmental phase that can be managed with a tailored toolkit of nutrition, recovery, and strength training to sustain or elevate performance.
390 - The Way Of Excellence With Brad Stulberg
Q: How should athletes think about motivation when it rises and falls?
Motivation is overrated; starting creates momentum. If motivation flags, focus on consistent action and the process, and use that as a cue to re-engage rather than waiting for motivation to appear.
